Brilliant comedy - it's not difficult to see how this sort of sketch inspired programmes like Not the Nine O'Clock News, Harry Enflield and Paul Whitehouse etc. Spike's satirical brain was second to none.

This is one of my all-time favourite Spike Milligan sketches. Everything about this sketch is spot-on, the dialogue, the stock footage they use, the music, the editing, costumes, it's an absolute blinder and basically says everything that needs saying about game shows. Thank you very much for uploading it!

One genius does not efface another. Both had their place. When Monty Python came out, it was the most surrealistic comedy Britain had ever viewed. Well ahead of its time. Spike, like Benny Hill, was one man. The Pythons were a team. Anyway, long live British humour- nobody else does it that good.

Bluebottle and Eccles on each side of a locked door. Bluebottle says "Turn the knob on your side" Eccles replies, "I haven't got a knob on my side". Bluebottle tries to explain gravity to Eccles. "Eccles , when you jump up in the air what happens?" "I come back down again." "Why is that?" "Cos I live here". Good enough for me.

True story: Terry Jones once got word that the BBC was going to begin wiping Python. (!!!!!!!!!!) Upon hearing this, he bought all the original masters directly from the network, and thank God for that! The wiping of classic original British comedy was almost tradition at the Beeb, and entire episodes of Q, 1948 Show, Not Only But Also, Frost Report and the first few seasons of the Goodies were all wiped so they could use the tapes for "Horse of the Year" show and news footage!!!

@LeeJTurnock The networks here in the US have the same lack of foresight. Where once there were hilarious B&W movies on late night TV, there are only infomercials now. As children, my siblings and I would wake up at 5:30am to watch a test pattern until 6:00am when the networks came on the air for an hour of cartoons before school. We became regular TV viewers at that early age. Now there are no cartoons. If the networks want to compete with cable, they should revert back to the classics.
