They are awakened with a strong motive (usually survival) and (usually) when there's a devil arm (Vergil in DMC5 prequel novel or manga, Dante DMC3, Nero DMC4, SDT Dante). For Nero, I'm guessing his want to stop Dante and Vergil from killing each other caused him to awaken his DT with out Yamato's help

Still love on how he used to have a stand, and that his grab is still his stand coming out to play when he's using certain combos that aren't fully documented on his movelist. Nero was brutal in 4, but man he feels even more brutal in 5.

In Nero's fighting style there is Dante's carefree fun and Vergil's pride & stubborness, but Nero is all about crushing his foes in the most damaging, excessively savage way possible There is so much sheer demonic brutality in him, and yet he's gentically the most human compared to Dante and Vergil. It's almost like his demon blood is on constant overdrive!

I remember the original dmc4 when you briefly saw a spectral form of his devil trigger it's just now he's able to physically become the form and aside from yamato they really pushed the emphasis on him being Vergil's son by creating a spectral yamato and mini blades with each shot I just love how they revealed his form all those years ago but put it off as the sword had given him access to it

@@aHumanBeing97 I assume you mean Dmc4 and just made a typo, but he does have a DT in 4. Yeah it's just doppelganger of what his DT becomes in 5, but serves the function nonetheless. Hell, he even gets his own summoned swords. And just like in 5, his enemy specific Devil bringer attacks change when in DT. But a comparison isn't really useful since there are many enemies and bosses in 5 that aren't in 4 and vice versa. So most of the enemy specific moves tend to be very different.

And let's be real kirye (no clue how to spell lol) is so unimportant to the games that she doesn't even have a model. Considering 5 is Nero's game it's even weirder that Lady and Trish get to be in it but not kirye. I'm sure I could like Nero in concept but they've blundered both times while writing him. Even stranger cause Dante is as good as ever and Vergils pretty well written too. Nero just needed to be less angry, he's Vergils child for Christ sake and he was in cannon raised by Credo and his family right? So he should've had a totally different personality logically.
