The Automaton Menace strikes back at Malevelon Creek on Helldivers 2 in this Impossible Difficulty 8 mission. We're running sweaty meta loadouts with the Railgun, Breaker Shotgun, and Shield Generator backpack just as a proof of concept and to practice, but future gameplay will focus on more interesting and unique builds.

To all my fellow Helldivers out there: I lost my arm and leg in The Creek, and Liberty willing we'll show these savages what Managed Democracy looks like. To do this though, we need to halt this Bot invasion. We need all available Helldivers saving places currently being invaded like Mort rather than spilling blood and oil in The Creek. I helped save Mantes last week, but a lack of focus from some of our fellow Divers let both it and Popli IX slip into enemy hands yesterday. We cannot let the Bots gain any more ground; push them back planet by planet to Malevelon Creek so we can show these rust buckets what a truly focused Helldiver offensive looks like.

This game has some crazy great aesthetic moments. Nuking a Bile Titan from orbit and then reading a personal tablet on the ground next to its corpse that was dropped by a dead guy nearby that basically admits "we planted these bugs here to harvest oil from them" really brings home the Starship Troopers themes (the movie obv). Your character screaming "that one's for DEMOCRACY" while you pump oil out of the ground could not be more on the nose about who the bad guys are, and yet still incredibly fun all the meanwhile. Incredible experience.

@@fluffybat5421 Helldivers has the 40k problem where people either completely ignore whats going on either since they don't look that deep or are actively ignoring it, or they're cheering for it because Super Earth has to be morally correct some how. And I say this as a Imperial Guard fan.

Diver popping by to humbly request people don't just drop in the Creek. Could really use the 30k-50k of ya'll that keep dropping there to support the rest of the bot front. Especially since Ubanae and Vandalon are eating up extras too. Spill some oil regardless though!

@@milkandcookiesTWit is X normally - you can drop items, weapons, back packs - even samples! One of the things we do on higher difficulty is drop all our samples at the extraction as we run and do our mission - which allows us to pick it up later when we extract I didn’t know this until MUCH later but it changes the game a lot! It’s like when I figured out that you can change RPM on a machine gun lol 😅

Glad to see you're liking it! I hope they add to the stealth just a bit more, I love the commando feel as you've mentioned (Especially on the jungle maps). Personally think it would be huge if they made it so Officer bots/bugs were the ones that called reinforcements, so maybe if you pre-setup correctly you can take out all the officers preventing reinforcements. That and they need to tone down the patrols that just follow you.

There's three main things I hope are changed. First, if you have a weapon that has a backpack attached, the person using the weapon should be the one wearing the backpack and any teammate can do the quick reload with them. Second, the automatons have crazy aim punch that fucks up your aim massively, I think that should be tuned down a bit because they are already way harder than bugs without that. Third, just general primary and secondary weapon balance changes. Sure, you can use any weapon and still succeed, but there is a noticeable drop off in effectiveness from the top 2 or 3 primaries and everything else. And I hope they buff instead of nerf, nerfs would be lame and unfun.

Next time someone drops a strategem on your shield; Hold X and you will get the option to drop your backpack. This can even be used to your own advantage against certain enemies. I won't say more ;b

Personally I prefer the slugger shotgun for bots over the breaker. Lets me save my support weapon for something else.

havent unlocked it yet! heard good things, but that the slow fire rate can make it hard to use on 8 and 9 vs bugs. cuz Hunter packs can overwhelm you

@@milkandcookiesTW Oh yeah no. I don't take slugger for bugs. For them I like the fire spray and pray from the premium pass. Has a wider spread than the breaker and I find that I can spray down a large group, even at distance, and the fire tick will kill them off as I'm reloading or repositioning. Brainstorming, if you really wanted to use the Slugger on bugs, because it staggers a ton of stuff (yes, even stalkers), you could run Slugger, Machine Pistol, Arc Thrower, Guard Dog Rover, Eagle Clusterbombs, and 500 kg. Slugger would be good up to chargers. Arc Thrower does it's thing. Rover takes care of little shits. CBs for super large groups, and 500kg for bile titans. Whatchu think?

The more I played the game the less the meta appeals to me as I realize there are a lot of support weapons, packs, and other things that are extremely overlooked. I go ballistic shield, defender, and railgun and it makes me the tank of the group lol

The "meta" loadout is so boring to play. Other gear needs to be buffed to it's level and Helldive should be harder.

i still think its fun, as long as you are working it in alongside other builds and strats and not just spamming it every game. I haven't run it much, so I'm not "bored" of it. There's nothing inherently boring about an automatic shotgun or cool ass railgun imo. but totally agreed there are a lot of weak weapons and variety suffers on higher difficulties, lots for the dev team to work on in terms of balance
