I am a straight 55 year old Dutch woman. Not sure if that has anything to do with anything, but you guys are cracking me up. Something like this: long overdue in my opinion!

I'm with Sean with this one. I can never have intimate relationships with Friends unless if the initial intention from the very beginning (usually from the apps) is that but with friends that dont start that way of agreement, it'd be too bizarre. Also, off topic, from an older gay, I have been in many corporate companies before. Your colleagues are not friends,.Envy, jealousy, fights happens way to often and indirectly: no matter how friendly. Have a veil of secrecy and keep your private life away from them or theyd use agaisnts you. Just dont..

Something I find a bit difficult to navigate with gay friendships is that initially, it can go in any direction - friendship, relationship, or hook up. I've had times where I meet someone wanting to be genuine friends but they get attracted to me and try to make a move. The moment this happens, it feels like it's hard to keep trying to be friends. I also agree that once you somehow get yourself into the gay scene, it's easy to make gay friends organically.

Before entering college, I had zero gay friend. But now, half of my cycle of friends are gay people 😂 In college, I started to be close with a friend that I assumed is straight. Then, he introduced me to his group of friends and I become close with all of them. Later, I learnt that he is gay and five of his friends are also gay. Suddenly, I have so many gay friends. There's one time I joined a dance group of five members. I am close with them and three of them told me they are gay. It's shocking to me when I realized that there are so many gays around me. But, I cannot imagine hooking up with any of my friends. I automatically find them unattractive after we become friends. Really don't want to see their naked bodies

Fun conversation. Quite true about the intentional vs circumstantial. I've been a very go with the flow guy, so kinda makes sense that till now I have more straight friends than gay friends much less a gay clique.

Watching this episode made me realise that i do not have a tribe/close gay friends of my own since i came out! Has it always been a thing to find your own group of gay friends?

I think it's just one of those unspoken things where we unknowingly do search for a group (whether it be going to queer spaces for a night out, or following other queer ppl on social media and making an effort to DM them with hopes of a future connection) to be a part of once we're out. That being said, it's not a "must". There's just a lot to be found and learned when you do find other queer people who you can relate to and be 100% your authentic self with.

If you don't want any companions then it's truly fine.... but sometimes we need someone to share our thoughts which the straights can't understand.🥲

Being a straight 62 yr old and from Uk I can only speak from a straight perspective so in the uk straight men do go out for a drink or socialise with other straight men without being attracted to each other sexually same for women, but they are either long term friends from work, college, school and activities I do agree gay males find it easier to have straight girls as friends because a gay man having a straight man as a friend is it more difficult as there is the thought from the straight man that does he fancy me that’s why he’s my friend and vise versa. Hope this makes sense

Love this show❤ But perhaps u could do something about the audio. Its sound far, sometimes unclear to listen due to room echoing.

Hey, we're thrilled to hear that you find our podcast entertaining! Just a heads-up, all our episodes were filmed on the same day. Unfortunately, we only discovered during post-production that the mics weren't working properly. As a result, the audio quality will be subpar for a few more episodes. However, if the reception is positive and we get the chance to produce a second season, we'll definitely invest in a proper studio and triple-check that the mics are working perfectly. Thanks for your understanding and support!

errmmm....True friends will be difficult to be friends with benefits......it really depends on how the individual conceives about what is sex to him. As for friendships regardless between gays or straights, the types of relationships developed will differ as you age with the different priorities you have at different stages of your life. The question I have really is how true a friendship can be and how long can it last...

What annoys (partly) me is that when we met a new friend and he assumed that we became friends because we used to either date or have sex, and that happened cos he likes my friend
@crecasensАй бұрын
That annoys me too. Because I have friends that have always been platonic yet because so many gays sleep with their friends they assume you do too.

I know the world has changed since the nineties, but back then in the mid-west US of A anyway, we were forming gay neighborhood associations, religious associations, softball, bowling or rugby leagues and meeting people outside the bars. This generation is far more about hook-ups than anything else, which is sad because of all the years we spent trying to get SS marriage laws passed in the West. Plus the fact that as you age you will realize just how pointless being a full-time horn-dog can be. The other thing is, straight men have to live in straitjackets always worrying about not getting too close to their male friends (will they think I'm GAY). That to me is both sad for them and very unnatural. Humans need each other, we are innately social creatures, and most poor straight guys, at least in the USA, can only talk about either women or sports, both such shallow pursuits. This is my sage advice for today, childrens.

I do find straight guys intimidating especially if they are my cup of candy😊 but gay guys in someway... worst? It is easy to to act all funny and friendly but soon will hear things about yourself from others.. One thing I realise also is that the community is so so small we all are literally part of each others gossip unless you are not out from the closet or have not exposed yourself to the community
