Tbh, it's the guests who expects too much for us. Worked at a high volume f&b establishment in cbd. In the evening, all the office people who want to feel atas come in dine in. They werr the worst. Coz we serv mostly tapas where you eat mostly with your hands (think pizzas, wings and bar bites.). But they just can't make up their minds. When the food comes, they just continued with their convos and left us holding on to heavy pizza boards and hot plates of food. It's the tourists who are the best people actually.

well as a worker in service line who work for almost 10yrs there were many things to say. right now retail sales (consider service line) i totally agree with them mentioning things. That whatever we face its apply to us . majority of my customer is literally too stubborn. yet treat us all like slave in Singapore. and in addition the companies pays peanuts to their staff. when customers and boss are so DEMANDING for us to do perfect for them. especially, parents with babies that makes our floor dirty& messy without any apologetic ,. Ask certain food to be changed, customer ask for kaya toast without kaya , chicken to salmon , and the some customer demand to change almost every ingredient from our the dish and become a totally diffnt type of food from the menu. when we almost close our shop , we have to keep items in our fridge. but customer demand us to put everything out just because the shop is not close yet. what abt customer decided to stay in a restaurant until late when my shop is close? and all i want is to go home early. plus i do not want to do extra 1mins when there is no OT

Service standard in Singapore is low compared to many other countries. Part of it is stems from Singaporean culture where we seldom engage in random conversations with people. Sometimes talking to people doesn't really need any reason other than saying "Hi, how are you" to acknowledge the other person in the vicinity. As a society we hold motive to such a high degree that when strangers come up and talk, there is often suspicion in our minds.

Quite a while already but this incident still stayed with me...walked into a clothing shop in a heartlands mall and browsing through the racks. A shop staff came up to me, gave me a very bored 'can I help you' and I replied the usual 'no thanks, just looking'. She gave me an up and down and said 'don't think we have anything here your size' I stunned like a broccoli, I was a plump girl back then, yah, but still...I orh and walked out of the shop 😶

I think the Singaporean culture is so high-strung which is probably why service workers both provide standard service while customers are terrible.

If you go to parts of Europe like London etc, the service level is not just bad but the attitude of the servers is even worse. Some behave as though you owe them a living. To be fair, generally, service level in SG and most of Asia is considered acceptable. Obviously, one can strive to be better.

Ironically, most of the service staff in London are from other EU countries and Middle east and South Asia. I had encountered rude Italian, Pakistani & Iranian service staff during my time there

I did ask around if Singapore should Replicate Karen's diner from Australia. But a lot of feedback said it won't work in Singapore and it will get cancelled for said reasons stated in the video. cos Singaporeans being Singaporeans it will lead to a shouting match instead. But for Bella's question... It could be both too depending on the frame of reference also the pay grade. I will always say I can't execute that request becos that is above my pay grade. which is most of the time. For nice ladies I would reply If you can wait for a while becos its kinda busy behind the counters and stations I will get to it once it is less busy.

I am pretty appalled at the level of English proficiency from the ex-SQ stewardess. She had trouble articulating her experiences properly.

@@frkzd my dad is a sq pilot currently, he has been an sq pilot for 35 years. showed him this video and he said this stewardess's english is horrendous lmao so no one dosent have to treat service crew badly to recognize that she cant even form proper sentences while speaking lol

@@vinodsiba4823 ooh triggered. well then, it’s SQ’s problem, not hers, in setting and selecting such a standard for their cabin crew. if the ability to speak well is critical to the job, then a verbal test should be administered and she shouldn’t have been selected.

If you can’t handle a bit of looking from the passenger maybe you are not suited for the service industry…he didn’t molest or take a pic of you so I don’t see the problem 😂😂😂 There is a reason why your uniforms are low cut so that customers will feel happy and fly with SQ again

SQ is the worst company ever. Customers are extremely over entitled, and the peers and management never treat anyone with respect.
