Oddballs really does give off the feeling of pretty much every cartoon ever made. It kind of feels like a show that would be in the background of another show, like Horse in a Bookcase in Phineas and Ferb, The Where Are My Pants Show in The LEGO Movie, or the Bumblebee Man show in The Simpsons.

Oddballs would work far better as a youtube series and with shorter episodes. The stories don't have enough substance to justify the runtime of the episodes. It's far from the worst show I've seen, but it suffers from filler and its limited animation. It'd fair better as a webtoon.

What made Odd1sout popular on KZbin is how relatable his stories are. But in this animation series, the suits swapped that out with 'le zany moments' which involve story beats that we've all seen in a gazillion kids cartoons

I was happy James got a show. I was a fan of him back when he was just starting out, but I faded away from his content. When I saw he had a show, I was like “Oh wow, this is great! This can open the door to more KZbinrs being recognized and accepted to create content on a larger scale!” It sounds like a great idea. I couldn’t get through the first season. It was just…so bad. Bland. Absolutely lifeless. Now we’ve seen what KZbinrs can do (Im pretty sure Smiling Friends was created by a KZbinr? Might be wrong tho) and it was an amazing show! But either the original pitch of the show was completely drained of life or it was just always this bland. Either way, how did this get a season two???

@Sentiental yeah, but I feel like I lost more trust in him when his channel became more like a corporation rather than a place to express himself. With all his products, books, games, and other crap, it’s like he’s totally doing this for personal gain. Now of course, most KZbinrs want to make a living off what they do. But it just seems like James doesn’t care anymore. He just craps products and games out and wants you to buy it. I actually bought his first book out of curiosity, and it was literally just his videos. No effort. He just typed out the script of some of his old videos and called it a day. KZbinrs can make a living without seeming so lifeless and bland with their work. Markiplier is the best example. He made two incredible KZbin shows that felt so passionate and loved, and his content feels fresh with his videos. James does not have this.

This show writes comedy without knowing what comedy is. It wants us to care about characters without giving them charm or depth…. It wants to be a tv show without having to learn how a tv show works. I feel like the main problem of this show is James was given an opportunity to make a show, but he didn't have an idea for a show. That's why he basically made himself the main character. I don't blame him for trying. I'd love to have a chance to make my own show! But there is no way I'd make myself as the main character. When I was in my early teens, that's when I came up with my own idea for a show and it basically had me as the main character, I look back at that and cringe. It's a more common mistake for armature writers to create the main character to be an exaggerated version of themselves instead of trying to make a show with characters that make more sense and has a bigger purpose within the universe of the show.

Benjamin Franklin was a well known womanizer in his time. It's very easy to find letters that basically boil down to him telling other men that he thinks it is good to sleep around A LOT (and from what I've seen his opinion was highly valued which is...fairly interesting from a historical aspect). I've never heard of him having a list of sins for self-improvement purposes, but...this can probably give you a good idea of what may have been on it.

In my opinion, season 2 was an improvement, I liked how everyone including Max were basically done with James and some characters like Mcfly & Echo were trying to teach him a lesson or test his ego. Speaking of Mr. Mcfly, I loved how they fleshed him out by making him get into the cowboy style, he basically became the 4th main character of the trio. The finale was good, I kinda wish more of the citizens would join in to fight back the appliances, Teenage Toasty/Declan in his transformer mech looked cool same with the return of Raging Hulk Max, also Toasty was such a mood lol his voice reminds me of Flowey from Undertale the musical. I am kinda annoyed that they made a joke out of Toasty´s death and replaced him with Waffley but I hope this isn´t the end of the hormonal emotionally damaged toaster, anyway that is all I have to say about season 2.

I personally like Oddballs for what it is. There's just something really charming about it that always brings me back to it. I also love James and his KZbin content so seeing him have a show is actually quite nice, not to mention a season two of all things. I love the toned up art in some scenes/episodes a lot, they always end up giving me a good laugh and or chuckle while rewatching or just watching through some of the scenes again. Not to mention the humor also gets me a good majority of the time.
