I forgot how this conversation started, but a couple days ago, some of my friends and I started comparing Cars 1 to the first Thor movie, and it’s scary how similar the storylines for both of them are. Cocky protagonist ends up in a fairly uninhabited, desert-like town (Thor ends up in New Mexico, and i’m pretty sure Radiator Springs is in Arizona - two states bordering each other too?), and they learn to put their arrogance aside for the people they’ve come to appreciate and no longer belittle... coincidence?

They recorded the sounds of the cars they’re based on. Also they used real history for The King and Doc Hudson. Like the years of the Hudson Hornets racing years, the crashes, the actual history of the REAL FABULOUS HUDSON HORNET, etc. Also I love how John actually took the crew to racetracks and Route 66 for research.
