I forgot how this conversation started, but a couple days ago, some of my friends and I started comparing Cars 1 to the first Thor movie, and it’s scary how similar the storylines for both of them are. Cocky protagonist ends up in a fairly uninhabited, desert-like town (Thor ends up in New Mexico, and i’m pretty sure Radiator Springs is in Arizona - two states bordering each other too?), and they learn to put their arrogance aside for the people they’ve come to appreciate and no longer belittle... coincidence?

There's early concept art (as well as official statements by the writers) that the Car Characters have internal organs. Hence the Fleshy tongues, organic eyes, farting tractors, and chitinous wings on the Bugs. If MatPat of Film Theory is correct, then these are all giant bugs adapted to use cars as exoskeletons.

I swear I will never understand people that complain about "slowness" in media, specially this on Cars 1, it's the whole point of the scene to be "slow" and calm. Literally one of the best Pixar films! They put so much work in it. The first film to use just ray tracing for the reflection animation. Had actual race legends voice and help with the film. They recorded the sounds of the cars they’re based on. Also they used real history for The King and Doc Hudson. Like the years of the Hudson Hornets racing years, the crashes, the actual history of the REAL FABULOUS HUDSON HORNET, etc. Also I love how John actually took the crew to racetracks and Route 66 for research. Also LIGHTNING has one of the best character arcs ever! Also I rewatched and literally the most inappropriate Pixar films!

In fairness to the it's not all about winning. If Lightning was like fifth place consistently he isn't getting the dynico offer for not winning. It's partially about winning, which lIghtning is capable of doing so. But it's also partially about it's about not being an absolute monster trying to off your competition mid match in from of millions on live TV and partially about having the compassion to strategically lose in a way that is easily marketable. ...I mean something something being a good person.

The fact that they don't need to be cars is a point that is continuously brought up in the community, and honestly it's 100% valid

fun fact: The King's crash at the end of the movie is almost a shot-for-shot recreation of Rusty Wallaxce's 1993 Talladega Winston 500 crash.

Acctually your right that it works with people cars was based off a 90’s movie called doc hollywood except instead of a racer he’s a surgeon (the doc part in doc hudsons name was probably a reference to that and hudson is just the name of the car the hudson hornet)
