@@chloeorr9880 I’d argue this movie understands the book differently from the Live-Action one, but doesn’t stray away from the fact that the Grinch hates the clusterfest surrounding Whoville, yet the Whos are not cynical if the Grinch were to visit them. My point is that the live-action movie failed completely, because the book doesn’t depict the Whos as cynical assholes (yes, these guys did say the Illumination Whos were “harassing” the Grinch when they were singing “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen”, but they weren’t malicious, the Whos are a community rather than a cluster cult)! If anything, the guy who never saw the Chuck Jones special, nor read the original book, understands the basics of the story a lot better than the live-action film.

@@03mbc To me, I see that type of description as accurate… and that’s good, because if you look back at the book, the Grinch is not that much of a threat outside of theft. I’d rather have any adaptation that keeps the core message of the Grinch being a grump that hates the external view of Christmas, while the Whos are a community filled with love that are already aware of the Internal view of Christmas; rather than the Grinch being a monster because of cynical jerks that are more like a cult that proves the Grinch right about the holiday being a clusterfest… and I say this, because the depiction in the live-action film was never Dr. Seuss’ intended message at all.

In the live qction grinch had trama. Like legit trama trama. Mf used scraps to make a sleigh. Max pulled everything up the mountain on his own. Aww, that's pretty sweet. :) Reminds me of how for my birthday, which is in mid-January, in 2015 I had my pick of going to see Strange Magic at the movie theater or the 1st Paddington movie because it didn't make it here to the US until a month and a half after it debuted in UK theaters. I couldn't make up my mind what to see (I didn't have a strong attachment to Paddington) so I looked both movies up on IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes and chose Paddington based on that, thinking we'd make it back to see Strange Magic another day. Even though I still haven't seen Strange Magic beyond STM's reaction video to it, going to see Paddington was legit one of the best decisions I've made in my life.

The Boston molasses flood happened because a giant watertower like container for molasses had 3 times the amount of molasses in it that it was supposed to. The flood was incredibly quick, but once it stopped moving, it was impossible to get out, so people were trapped in molasses and asphyxiated. The streets smelled like molasses for months. In total, 21 died and 150 were injured.
