So I believe the show takes the course of a year vaguely since Jaz is preparing for college a year early according to her so she should be 17 when she does that. I don’t know when her birthday takes place in the series so maybe it’s only a month after the first episode, but some time is passing in the show at the very least. Also if you want to believe the official comic released recently the series is several years (2-3). Obviously the original writers aren’t working on it, but it’s officially licensed so either you can consider is canon just a new writer like how other comics usually work but with retcons or it’s a different continuity entirely separate from the show. The comic is trying to follow up on the finale of the show, but it needs to retcon things like technology.

While Fairly OddParents was the first Butch Hartman show I [and many others] watched, Danny Phantom was the Butch Hartman show to hook me in just a bit more. I think that mainly came from large chunks of the story, and the dialogue and action scenes were really fun. I cannot wait until they get to Danielle (underrated and underutilized as all hell) and Dark Danny.

I think what made it interesting was that it was different from what was showing on TV at the time. You had protagonists like SpongeBob, Jimmy, and Timmy all young and trying to connect to that specific audience. Danny was a teen who fought ghosts, was a disappointment in the family, and had many struggles in and out of school. In the end, this show was more realistic than anything put out during those times (honestly I think this applies today too).

I dunno if it's because the writers were too focused on shoehorning in the Danny/Sam ship tease, or if it's because the concept of having the protagonist end up with the black girl was too controversial for the early 00s (putting my money more on the former though, the latter is more conjecture). But either way Valerie was such an interesting character and there was so much untapped story potential that could've revolved around her learning Danny's secret. Her whole character arc was pretty much unfinished, which is a shame. (and yeah I should probably clarify that I'm not just salty that Danny ended up with Sam over Valerie. It's just that Valerie as a character was wasted, and I feel like that's because she was being used as a love interest first and a character second, so when her time as a love interest ended, she was pretty much just tossed aside.)

I haven’t watched the video yet. But I’m excited because I never watched Danny Phantom when I was younger…or maybe I did but I just didn’t watch much of it Idk. The only Danny Phantom stuff I’ve actually experienced and remember is fanmade stuff. And I’m pretty sure both of the fan made stuff that had him in it, I only watched/read (in one of the cases) was because it also had Ben 10 in it.
