Fun Fact about the Ball game. It depended on the culture who got sacrificed, in some it was the losers, in others it was the winners. And the ball game mostly consisted on seeing which team dropped the ball the most. Basically the game wasn't about winning, it was about making the other team losing. I'm unsure what the hoops even were for, some sites say whoever managed to get the ball through there immediately won, others that it really didn't mattered.

Can we talk about how we have no 2D Dreamworks movies nowadays? Like they've been on a great streak with movies lately and tons of their CG content is fantastic (aside from that Little Mermaid ripoff which, weirdly enough had the potential to roast Disney for the 2023 Little Mermaid but didn’t end up doing great cause of poor marketing and cliché story moments), but I kinda miss the full on 2D movies.
@Alino- Жыл бұрын
From what i understand, 2D animation is A LOT more expensive than 3D, because with 3D you just make the models and can pose / change that model to fit scenes as necessary. It's why we haven't gotten a 2d Disney film in years. I know we're getting wish in november though, which is a mix of 2d and 3d animation.
@MaximizedAnimation Жыл бұрын
@@Alino- You'd think that would be the case, but the past has shown that 2D is a lot cheaper to make than CGI. 2D might require more time and effort, but when it comes to budgets, the cost of running all the computers and tech necessary to render a CGI movie is a lot higher. Just to put things into perspective, at the beginning of the Disney renaissance, movies like Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin each cost less than $30 million. However, as Disney started to incorporate more CGI into their 2D movies as the decade went on, the budgets for each of their movies skyrocketed, culminating in Tarzan, which was their most CGI heavy film at the time, having a production budget of $135 million, a record not even Pixar would surpass until Ratatouille in 2007.
@Spellbook Жыл бұрын
They dissolved the 2D studio it might be too expensive to revive it. Like for example training new animators for it.
@whoiam5838 Жыл бұрын
From what I understand it's a mix of audience preference and producer bias. Audiences tend to show up more for 3D animated movies than for 2D ones. However, part of this is that producers have it in their head that 3D animation is the way of the future, and if they only do that they can cut the cost of having people who do 2D movies, so they tend to under advertise 2D animated movies, leading to a self fulfilling conclusion about audiences not turning up for them.
@halinaqi21943 ай бұрын
I was thinking that the production values get more expensive is because they keep hiring celebrities to voice act instead if voice actors, like we don't need awkwafina, VA for animated characters, or Chris pratt for Mario, or Jack black for bowser (although he did a decent job for bowser). There are plenty of talented VAs that can do a better job for cheaper but im guessing they choose celebrities for marketing purposes. Why else would anyone make Chris pratt VA for mario.

As predicted, the comment section is filled with Chel supporters, and rightfully so. I'd argue Kim from Kim Possible or Katara from Avatar were my earliest awakenings, but I feel bad not knowing Chel beforehand. Though, I doubt my parents would've let me watch it at such a young age given tons of explicit connotations they make.

Funny thing about Kim Possible, I've often heard that Shego was a lot of people's awakening.

I’m not making this up AT ALL. But in the original concepts for chel not only was she more risqué in design but her personality was upped to be even more flirtatious and suggestive, think like Jessica rabbit levels. I’m not kidding she was originally going to be even more of a Baddie!

IIRC, in one of the older drafts its a lot more explicit the chieftain knows the two guys arent gods (probably exactly to avoid the whole Savior angle) but is entertained enough by the sheer amount of bullshitting they do to find them endearing by the end.

At first this movie would be more mature, but SADLY they had to tone it down in the development stage. Chel would be even more hotter based on the concept arts. Why did they have to tone it down, WHY?? ;_;

Where did that sailor get the map from? Cos it's existence implies someone had been there before and found the way before all this began. ..... In a way Tzekel kan got what he wanted, he found a 'diety' that matched the right image and mindset, but what he missed was the possibility that his gods(or anyone like them) would see him as just another puny mortal like everyone else and he wasn't gonna be rewarded for his loyalty like he probably thought. Also considering how the opening was the gods providing a lush jungle paradise filled with life, I'm not sure where Tzekel kan got the notion they were the 'bloodthirsty rule with an iron fist' type, I'm taking that as a 'this is what i want rather than what they actually want' thing.
@matiaspereyra9392 Жыл бұрын
if they got it from another native civilization, like it was some merchant's map to a far away city that that sailor or someone else picked up on a past incursion, besides by the time cortes got assigned to do new word shit it would have been 20 years since it got "discovered" which means that a native could have written "el dorado" on that map since el dorado means "the golden" and it doesn't make much sense in Spanish it could be broken spanish
