Funny part was going into the deep water to get the snagged lure. Then proceeding to cast lure off the next cast and with getting a birds nest in the reel! 😂

That storm didn't scare away the fish. The giants you pull from that spillway are always so impressive.

Sometimes the thunderstorms really help the bite when the water is so low. Plenty of 10+ lbers in this spillway this year. I'm trying to enjoy it while it lasts! Thanks!

We also do bridge hopping which is a greatly overlooked item. The spillways are my absolute favorite though. 😆

Great video as usual and a fantastic smallie! Also, you catch the biggest wipers I've ever seen! Looking forward to the next vid

Thanks, I appreciate that! The average size wiper down there this year has been great. I hope it continues but I also hope that a few smaller ones are still being stocked to replenish the population. Time will tell in the next few years. This smallie was a nice surprise. I catch a lot of 12-15 inchers down there but not too many big ones. This one was no 5 lb boundary waters beast but I'll still take it!

Great spillway times! Nothing like getting angry at yourself for not having the best setup. You just never know. Great content, as usual.

It's always better with friends! I'm always going back and forth on whether to use the lighter setup or not. It's so much fun when you are catching smaller fish but in this river if you use the fairy wand long enough you can be sure you are going to regret it! Thanks, I appreciate all your comments! I hope the fishing is going well up there!

I’ve caught numerous stripped bass over 30lbs in the Savannah River. At Clark’s Hill lake my uncle caught one 50+ when I was a teenager. The average size in our area is 5-15lbs all day and night. Great video and I subbed. 💪🏼 🎣

Those are nice stripers. These fish in the video are hybrids (white bass x striped bass) so they don't get that big. Our state record is 19 lbs. Thanks!

It's been pretty crazy. I'm trying not to take it for granted because I know it won't last! I just hope all the big ones don't get taken. I've seen a lot of them on stringers lately so who knows if any will survive! Thanks for watching!

I like how sometimes you say "Its not big, its not that big" its crazy how the Average Wiper has gotten out of control this year. I barely fished this spring because of sports and school but this year is going to be different. Suprised the red hat guy didnt ask you for the fish 😂
@BackroadsAngling Жыл бұрын
You know the wiper fishing is going well when you think you have a 7-8 lber and you are a little bit disappointed. The average size down there is ridiculous. I have to remind myself not to get spoiled because any wiper is a treat whether it is a 3lber or a 13lber. With the intense pressure this spillway gets there could always come a time when the wipers become a lot more rare! Have to enjoy it while it lasts! I'm glad you guys were there - the other guy wasn't going to ask for fish with all of us there.

AGangling looks like a pretty cool dude. Seemed like he was expecting a hot bite. I’m guessing the rain killed it though 😢 seemed like AG was able to get one later on that other side. He posted it on his channel 13 lber
@BackroadsAngling Жыл бұрын
Yes, AG and Aaron were both fun to fish with that day. It wasn't as good as we had hoped (the day before the wipers were biting about every second cast) but bites like this don't last very long. Yes AG got one later in the day.

A lot of them downstream from macbride. Yours was one of the bigger ones I know of. Congrats on a cool fish

To me it looked like a pure smallmouth but sometimes the meanmouth vs. smallmouth is hard to tell so you could be right.

There are wipers throughout the river system but the biggest ones I catch are at this spillway.

Red hat dude just keeps casting over you when you are hooked up, no fishing etiquette whatsoever. Lucky you got there first but then you have to deal with the knuckleheads.

The day before this it was just him and I. He tangled me up on one of his first casts and a few more times after that. I had to take a few deep breaths and think happy thoughts.
