Decades ago I knew two brothers who owned a 1966 Alon. They give me a couple rides in it. It was wonderful...👍

Their work didn't go to waste. It inspired and encouraged other aviators and engineers to advance. Hard work never goes to waste.

People are always commenting on my Ercoupe not having rudders. I point to the tail and say, “look closer. I actually have TWO rudders.” But I have no rudder pedals. You’d think someone making a documentary like this would not make such an ignorant mistake.

Thank you so much for creating and sharing this ❤️. The Ercoupe is one of my favorite airplanes.

My brother has one, same exact paint scheme as the one with the couple having a picnic. There's another one in the same area, also an Alon, also same paint scheme. He flies it all the time!

I have one on west coast with same paint code.

@@captng I saw the 'other dude' flying over head (over Austin) and called my brother and asked "Hey, why you overflying Austin?" He said he wasn't. Another time my brother was buying gas in gas cans at the airport and he saw the same ScareCoupe flying away and he thought someone stole his plane... But--turns out his plane wasn't stolen.

The photo of the couple is not so far fetched.....My wife and I would fly to small hidden airstrips in our Ercoupe, just to be in a quiet place...We'd wander around, relax , have something to eat (sometimes sitting under the wing for shade)...then fly home...It just seemed so natural to us.....We also visited many small airports, but it was the 'hidden' private little strips that we really liked, some being close to a river or lake.....John (west coast, Can.) At about 2:38 the speaker calls the airplane "rudderless"? Perhaps like the 415-C Ercoupe it didn't have rudder PEDALS?? Just my guess.

Common mistake. Drives me nuts.

I caught the came thing Alons had rudder pedals and rudders so they weren't rudderless. I also thought the Alon was a better smaller warrior. I flew a 1966 N5654F, was an instrument equip plane. Another great coupe.

No mention of the Mooney A2-A or the Mooney M10.

I noticed a badge on the Alon that said "Aircoupe".... when I was always corrected to day Ercoupe..
@kenthompson37302 жыл бұрын
Ercoupe and Aircoupe were built by different companies. Later models built by different companies were called AirCoupes. The original company was Engineering Research Co. (ERCO). Hence the name Ercoupe.

@@kenthompson3730 Yes the Ercoupe to Aircoupe name was started when the Forney models were made. I owned a 1958 and in the owners manual the used both names. Great plane by the way took me all over the country even went to the Wausau Convention and Oshkosh. Found her a new loving owner after taking care of her for 17 years.
