Congrats! You’re part of the (very) short list of creators who’s new videos I actively look for, and I’m so happy that you’re continuing to share your fiber shenanigans! Thank you!! I think the fist video of yours that got me hooked was the iconic “spinning and knitting a hat for my local sheep farmer”, because the only thing that I love more than spin-to-knit projects are hyper local spin-to-knit projects. Anyway, may the chaos goblin ever reign supreme :)

I've watched all of your videos multiple times by now (you're very comforting on bad mental health days), so I'm not entirely sure when I found your channel. I think it was with your first of maybe second video. So congratulations, and thank your for making these video's! With every video you make I fall in love again with sheep and all the things you can do with their fur. Some questions for Tour de Fleece: how did you get into Pathfinder? Are you a reader? And if so, what genres do you like, and what are some of your favourite books?

One year, wow congrats!! I'm sort of new here, I was searching for vintage knitting videos and found the 40s sweatervest-video, and a lovely Jente talking passionately about fiber and history and wool! I was hooked and quickly binged everything on your channel. Your chaos energy has been so good for my brain, which thinks that everything has to be perfect and that I shouldn't even bother to try because it will suck. Having embraced more chaos is lovely! So I want to thank you so much for that! I'm also very limited in my energy (I have chronic pain/illness) so sometimes when my body wants to craft but can't, I watch some of your videos and just soak in the creativeness. Thank you so much for your content! As a sign of my gratitude I will give you a Swedish fact. If you put a short "a" instead of the "e" at the end of Jente it becomes "jänta" which is an old-timey Swedish word for young girl!
@MijnWolden Жыл бұрын
I think in Norwegian and Danish Jente still means girl? It's a fact I particularly love because where I live the name Jente is used for all genders, though more prominently for boys. So I get a lot of letters adressed to ''mr.''. at least the Nordics have the right idea 😅

Happy anniversary! You've done so well and it really makes me smile! I'm so happy for you! I think I've only been here for half your journey so far. Since I don't spin (...yet?...) and wasn't looking for spinning channels, the first one to catch my attention was the dog fur gloves video! (I've got a jar of my cat's fur that I'd love to do something with one day). But I didn't realize until just a couple weeks ago I wasn't subscribed because youtube diligently showed me all your stuff, anyway. I just really enjoy watching people work through making their creations, whether or not it's a craft I also do (which is why I make the kinds of videos I make) so whether you do that all in one video or spread out to several makes no difference to me! And yes, that also means that if you had to comb the floofs, it makes sense for us to see you comb the floofs again. (Also, I often feel like watching youtubers do things like that is like growing up watching a grandma or aunt do the crafty things. When you decide to do it yourself, you don't need tutorials because you've seen it a hundred times. And I just love that.) Here's to another year of growth and shenanigans! 🥂
@MijnWolden Жыл бұрын
I love the idea of being the crafty aunt/grandma. Both my grandmom's are super skilled. My maternal grandmom with knitting and embroidery, and my paternal grandmother was a professional seamstress (she designed for lingeriebrand Etam, up until she became a stay at home mom for my dad and his Four siblings - as was sadly still costumary in the 1960s)
@retrocraftdreams Жыл бұрын
@@MijnWolden That's so fantastic (well, maybe not the giving-up-a-career part, but the skill, definitely)! One of my grandmas made her own clothes and my aunt crocheted, but I saw them too little to ever witness them working. My stepmom did teach me to cross stitch. But that's the end of my crafty relatives (they're more artists and musicians and chefs). So I love that youtubers like you can be my stand-ins. And I hope I can do the same for others eventually.

Yay to one year! Yes to multi part series. Always makes me want go out and collect some and then I realize I don't have non-food pots). One question, how did you get into fiber arts and spinning? (sorry if it was already answered). You have inspired to want to learn spinning and weaving, so last week I did try it on a friend's spinning wheel and started save for my own. Thanks for sharing yourself and your life with us.

That yarn might work well for some woven outerwear 👀 Has it been a year already... I can't remember exactly when I started watching but I believe it was shortly after tour de fleece ; I remember binging those back then. This might feel a bit mushy, but thank you. Having your videos to look forward to has been one of the things that kept me going this year. I know people generally present their best and most cheerful face to the camera and we don't see the hard times and struggles, but the cheer and love of fun and adventure you bring us have always brought me a smile even in the darkest times. And your proud and deliberate chaos has allowed me to start spinning with more excitement than perfectionism and fear, and truly lit a love for natural wool (even if I do also love sparkles and the like). I've never touched patreon (tight budget... But mostly anxiety tbh) but I will see if I can get myself to tackle it once irl slows down a bit. I know it's not *really* related to tour de fleece, but I would love to hear more about the things YOU love about Belgium. Be it places, food, traditions that you enjoy or that make you nostalgic, and of course, textiles, sheep and related topics ;) I just think it's a shame that we don't hear much about it internationally.
