4 Humbuckers, and tachometer, not a compass--that actually responds to being played. Guitar is named Mr. Horsepower. Each humbucker has it's own pickup selector switch. It's made by Ernie Ball, and they actually did a charity auction in 2001 for 25 of 'em to the public. Currently, if you want one you can buy it for around $9,500.

I'm so pleased they chose to play this profound song - after cruelly being limited to just 5 minutes. It has so much to say about the concepts of monarchy, football, and the textile industry. It was a message we all needed to hear - and it's delivered beautifully, if somewhat ironically ["the scoring of the goal"] at Wembley Stadium. David and Nigel are visionary poets who shaped the world we live in today. And here's my "Top Ten Tap" songs to prove it - I rate these by how influential these songs have become to civilisation generally - not just their musical merit: 1. Rock and Roll Creation 2. The Majesty of Rock 3. Stonehenge 4. Sex Farm 5. Break Like the Wind 6. Tonight I'm Gonna Rock You Tonight 7. Listen! (to what the flower people say) 8. Hell Hole 9. Gimme Some Money 10. Back From the Dead It was very difficult - 14 albums of difficult. But these, I believe, are the most important songs in the Tap anthology.

My favourite - & most enduring - memory of the FMT concert back in '92 (as we used to call it then ... & sometimes still do ... NOW) : I love the opening riff. And the lyrics are 'national anthem-sized' material - there's eternal truths and 'everyman-type-themes' locked deep inside them, Boys-&-Girls-&-Whatever, so take heed - '... The shepherd with his flock, the miner with his coal - We're in this TO-GETHER ...'. And why not ?

Not only is Spinal Tap a spoof on rock/metal, they're obviously outfitted as doubles of 70s/80s stars. Or maybe it's the other way around. They've done a good job of it. I'd like to dedicate this thread to any suggestions. My guess is Tony Iommi, David Lee Roth and Bruce Dickenson, with John Bonham on drums when not exploding.

There's a pulse in the new-born sun; A beat in the heat of noon; There's a song as the day grows long, And a tempo in the tides of the moon. It's all around us and it's everywhere, And it's deeper than royal blue. And it feels so real you can feel the feeling! And that's the majesty of rock! The fantasy of roll! The ticking of the clock, The wailing of the soul! The prisoner in the dock, The digger in the hole, We're in this together, and ever In the shade of a jungle glade, Or the rush of the crushing street, On the plain, on the foamy main, You can never escape from the beat. It's in the mud and it's in your blood And it's conquest is complete. And all that you can to is just surrender To the majesty of rock! The pageantry of roll! The crowing of the cock, The running of the foal! The shepherd with his flock, The miner with his coal, We're in this together, and ever When we die, do we haunt the sky? Do we lurk in the murk of the seas? What then? are we born again? Just to sit asking questions like these? I know, for I told me so, And I'm sure each of you quite agrees: The more it stays the same, the less it changes! And that's the majesty of rock! The mystery of roll! The darning of the sock, The scoring of the goal! The farmer takes a wife, The barber takes a pole, We're in this together, and ever

He was one of these drummers with a distinct flare for what instinctive drumming was all about and would have and should have been seen as one of the great prog-rock drummers in our time. Just had to add to this comment. Steve Perry wanted him to join 'Journey' but he turned it down because he was working on another project.

Accorsing to some rumours, it was Slash - who had worked with them on "Break Like The Wind" - who decided to prank them by fiddling with their equipment. However, it was not funny, as Michael McKean's growing discomfort makes apparent. Obviously they're accomplished comedians and had material in case anything like this ever happened, but strong words were had with Slash afterwards along the lines of "We prefer to make our own jokes...could have got nasty!"
