Have the researchers ever found out what are the function of the lymphocyte aggregates in the melanomas ?

They are thought to represent immune cell “host response”. Basically the white blood cells trying to attack and fight off the melanoma. This is commonly seen in other types of melanomas also. But the pattern of it in desmoplastic melanoma is very characteristic and almost always present.
