Never, the only thing they are being strict with is taking the player out in the air. And also maybe high tackles.

@@daaichommie708 you can't really blame them though, every week an ex-player comes out with head trauma-related issues so trying to get players to change how they engage in rucks, tackles and etc is probably one of the only ways to stop a lot of lawsuits. Especially with the size of the players in today's game.
@daaichommie7082 жыл бұрын
@@cymrocam fair point. Iv got no problem penalising intent. But when it's accidental in the split second moment then the ref's and TMOs need to realise at the end of the day that it is still a contact sport and shit happens. I just hate seeing a contest get ruined because a player has been carded for an accidental or unavoidable collision.

Rugby is hilarious because even when the human body is at its most extreme and large and powerful some 5 ft dude with neck attributes cranked past physics will allow can change everything.

So, controversial thought here, but if you want to knock someone out, and not get sent off, you should elbow them in the head with the ball carrying arm then.....

That’s leading the elbow/forearm and will get you penalised. You new to rugby or something ?

Most of these are examples of poor tackling technique. Any ball carrier hopes the tackler will stay upright or, even better, leave their feet before contact. If the tackler is physically smaller, like a 9 on a forward, the tackler will usually lose the collision due to simple physics. That’s why good coaches teach “cheek to cheek” positioning with the tackler’s head behind the ball carrier’s butt - never in front. Shoulder connects with the thighs, arms wrap, legs keep moving, and grip slides down to slam the lower legs shut. No matter how big your upper body, nobody can run with their ankles clamped together. Dan Carter was a master at it. If you go chest to chest (or like Farrell, shoulder to head) the ball carrier will usually have the momentum. A fend off with the arm adds to it. That’s why most of those would-be tacklers go flying.
