I had this same surgery done 9/26/2024. I am a 32 years old mommy. I really believe this surgery saved my life. My pain started as sciatic nerve pain down my left leg three weeks prior to my surgery. I went to my primary doctor and he gave me some pain meds and the pain subsided a little bit but never completely went away. Then on 9/23/24 it all went down hill for me, the pain came sooo strong on both legs, where it became imposible to stand or walk, sit on the toilet. It felt like my life was over. I have three children ages 13, 6, and 2. i didnt want to scare them and make a scene by calling and ambulance but i probably should because Tuesday my right leg went numb and i couldnt pee anymore. Thats when i went to the hospital. They did an mri. I had a huge disk herniation on my L4 ,L5. My suergon said if i didn't get surgery. My nerves would have suffered more damage. I am 2 months post op.I am pain free thank God! I have limp when i walk because my right leg is still weak but i'm working with pt and making progress little by little. I also walk slow and it not easy for me to accept that my body needs time to heal or that some things will never be the same again. Because i am such an active person. I use to love running and going to the gym at least 3 times a week.If you have to have this surgery done. Just give yourself time to heal. And it 100% worked for me.God bless❤

@@RachelSteenland How long did you wait for the surgery?

@@hmp2085 My l4/l5 disc herniated while I was on vacation, so I needed to travel back (20 hour flight), then see doctors back in the USA, get MRI etc… then schedule surgery. So it was a six week wait for me… I would have done it sooner if I could have ad I was in so much pain and my right leg was dragging. It was really difficult. I was 44 at the time of surgery. What does your doctor suggest?
