Glad to see that Spinnaker is choosing to release some midsized (regular sized, if you ask me) watches. There are a couple design choices that don't personally do it for me in this instance, but I'll start paying closer attention to Spinnaker now, hoping for more

Based on this review I ordered this watch and received it a few days ago. It's stylish and fits good on my 17cm/6,7inch wrist. I agree about the finish which is very good. The only drawback I can see is that the bezel is slightly misaligned to the markers. The 0 dot will be either slightly to left or slightly to right on the 12 point. I don't find it a big problem, though. I like this watch. It's an allrounder which can be used for as well swimming and some shallow freediving and still is stylish enough to be weared together with a suit.

That pepsi bezel mid-size is the one I like most. 😍 This mid-sized one looks so much better than the 43mm Spinnaker Croft. I like the proportions and the cleaner dial layout. THANK YOU for the shout out for my Croft review! 🙏🏼

Not bad at all, wish they would do just a no date version of this. Not a big fan of totally circular cyclops as it looks like a droplet of water on the glass. Otherwise a great watch.

My 34 year old Seiko quartz diver has 150 metres water resistance too. I used it for diving in the RN and when using power tools it has never let me down. It is still my go to beater watch. Will the Spinnaker be as tough who knows.

Based on your honest review I now have two of these, and I'm very pleased with them. Your comments were bang-on - thank you. The only criticism I have of SPINNAKER is that their aftermarket customer service is very poor. The pin broke off a bracelet clasp (poor welding). Spinnaker's solution:- buy a new bracelet from us, $80 please... 🤨

Except for very few pros,150 m is plenty for diving Dave It's a good looking watch ,Def some Panerai vibes to the dial the hands are a bit Oris and of course the bezel [which does look a bit odd on a non gmt]borrows heavily from the GMTMaster .Like many others I'm sure ,I'd prefer a no date .I would buy the Vostok Amphiba 170863 Batman GMT over this .Similar vintage vibe but GMT to match the bezel but it's still a very nice watch and a great option

Looks awesome Dave but as far as originality I won’t give it a pass for that. Circular indices and batons are standard on Rolex sub and a number of Seiko watches as well, and the bezel as you mentioned looks like a gmt bezel which is also Rolex like as far as the look. That said, it’s a very nice piece But not one that I would be in a hurry to add to my collection as I already have a few watches with similar look and feel. Originality seems to be some thing that is harder and harder to come by especially with the dive watch but I have to say your videos are absolutely amazing superb quality as always thanks for this Dave

Thanks for review! This is an interesting watch. I am interested in a Pepsi colored watch and consider a Steinhart or Squale Rolex-homage. This Spinnaker is very nice as well. I like that the bezel is not very wide so dial becomes bigger. I also think 150m WR is adequate for swimming and freediving to a few meters depth.

Looks good. The hands may look a little too fat though. Question: This applies to many watches… aren’t diver extensions the most useless feature on a bracelet? Does anybody really use this ( honest question)? I would rather see manufacturers put their effort to incorporate on the fly adjustment system which are WAY more useful on a day to day basis. If I ever go diving and want to take my mechanical watch with me (definitely will) I’ll just swap the bracelet for a rubber strap.
@JusttheWatch3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, they're pretty much useless unless you're actually going to wear your watch over a wet suit. On the fly adjusts are way more useful, but also a lot more complicated and expensive to manufacture.
@bboooobbyy3 жыл бұрын
My hand is disproportionately big for my wrist size so I actually use the extension (just to get the bracelet over my fist) on every bracelet that has it. Otherwise I have to compromise by wearing an extra-loose watch bracelet
@JusttheWatch3 жыл бұрын
Interesting, I can see how that could actually be really useful.
@NPrez-cv4jn3 жыл бұрын
@@bboooobbyy interesting, never thought of that. You might be the only person that actually has a good daily use for it 😂. Maybe a good on-the-fly micro adjust system with at least 10mm travel distance could also work?

Good video Dave. The problem with the Croft is that it isn't particularly cool or exciting in any way. It's perfectly... adequate. Which is just another way of saying that $300 divers are brutally competitive. I'd like to see a stainless insert and maybe a 12 hour option, just to give some more choice.

Giving me Tudor GMT vibes (colorway, bevel on the lugs, crown), but good looking piece nevertheless, however seems to be a little confused with the divers extension, but only 150m WR and the poor lune. Would be better if they gave it a count down bezel and forgot the dive extension altogether

Really digging that circular cyclops. I popped the cyclops off of my Pagani hulk clone, but I would most likely leave this one in place. Honestly I'm having a lot of trouble justifying the cost of anything other than a significant name since the advent of the AliExpress dives. I mean sapphire (albiet synthetic) crystals, the same NH35, ceramic bezels, solid link/end link bracelets with 3 micro adjusts and a diver's extension AND screw links. All for $100 USD all day long. The only negative is the lume is usually crap, but for most of these micro brands, or just lesser tier manufactures, it's the same downfall. This is still a spectacular watch, and I'm sure the QA is better, but it's a lot to ask for a $200 premium over it's Chinese competitors.

For timing things. If you line the little dot up with the minute hand, you can read how many minutes have passed on the bezel.

They don't put display case back on divers for a reason! And the 150m is following the vintage style do you really think a gasket knows the difference between 150m and 200m? 200m is only good for swimming no diving regardless of what they say and certainly no compressed air diving..
