River smallmouth angler here. While some lures sometimes work, a spinnerbait always works! White with a gold blade or a combination of white/gold with a gold blade is money. A single Colorado blade in 3/8-ounce is my go-to.

I have been using the heavy plastic lures (cover scat 3.5, bellows gill) with a lot of success. I've been fishing them weightless. Seems like when I get bit, they are larger than normal. Get your time in fishing while you can. Too many damn months we can't. I always forget about a spinner bait. Thanks for sharing.

I’m not sure if you’re looking for ideas for your Saturday night live streams, but prepping gear for winter storage might be a good option. It would beneficial for viewers while allowing you to hold an open chat while doing it. You have some amazing videos on how to service baitcasting reels, which I highly recommend to everyone, so the idea would be for you to disassemble, clean, and lube up a reel (or more) during a live stream. I’ve never created content and don’t know the logistics, but since your hands would be tied up, you could have Dizzle moderate and control the chat. I know there’s some subscribed feeshin’ friends that will continue to hit the water while it’s open, so perhaps it would be good for a livestream in December

I’ve been using paddle tails and super flukes to catch the dinky bass in the bayou by my place. I did catch a decent 3.5lb on a frog last week though. I’m shifting back to the saltwater for Seatrout and Redfish mode🤠

I have the medium heavy tatula rod.and it seams to be on the stiffer side as well but I absolutely love it. I haven't been catching a ton of fish on it but have been landing 3-4 lb bass and 7-8 lb pike on it no problem. For the 100 dollar price point it's been my favorite so far even above my st Croix bass x. Rod. As far as fall lures go I've been having good luck the last few days on lipless crankbaits, the chaterbait mini max and 1/4 oz jigs with the xzone chunk trailers that came in the ol' mb box. Black and blue, pb&jelly, and white have been my go to colors. While my buddy has been crushing both bass and crappie on live minnows and the rapala husky jerk.

Do you ever throw a spinnerbait in clearer water? I feel like I don't throw one enough but clearer water is probably the reason. I've never gotten on a consistent killer fall bite. Hope to change that over the next few weeks. Great vid!
@travisla1217 Жыл бұрын
spinnerbaits are great in clear water. Usually best when there's chop and/or clouds, but I catch them in slick calm when they're chasing bait as well

When it comes to spinnerbait trailers, how do I know when to use them and when not to use them?
@gregchilders7643 Жыл бұрын
I let water clarity dictate what trailer to use.dingy I use a paddle tail or curl tail .clear I use a section of a trick worm.tail section if I want a little wiggle and the other half is good when the water is cooler
@08alexnyc Жыл бұрын
@@gregchilders7643 Thanks. What was your success rate without a trailer?
@gregchilders7643 Жыл бұрын
@@08alexnyc that's when I will use the "head"section of the worm rigging the egg sac first then only having the tip of the worm past the barb or even with skirt.imo this gives the bait a body without no action when they are nipping .I will use this when I'm using a single Colorado blade and the hook up is good.Bounce off cover or twitch every couple of turns works good also the hook up ratio is good.been using them for 40 years so that why I prefer the spinnerbait over the chatterbait. Hope this helps
@08alexnyc Жыл бұрын
@@gregchilders7643 Thank you. I need to try this. Do you keep the worm intact or do you shorten it?
@gregchilders7643 Жыл бұрын
@@08alexnyc when I use the tail section I will use a 3to 4in to match size of baitfish. I like using zoom trick worm for 1/4to 1/2oz spinnerbaits and the finnesse worm for 1/8oz spinnerbaits. That tail section wiggles just like a fish I use that 90%of the time .plus the zoom has alot of colors to choose from. I like to buy silicone skirt material and make my own skirts also colored blades

Stanley makes a 1/8oz spinnerbait that cast good with medium action baitcaster. For finnesse go with the strike king pond magic or bass pro shops crappie maxx.the 1/16oz bps Maxx works good on bfs
@travisla1217 Жыл бұрын
I've caught tons of fish on the Booyah Pond Magic spinner baits, even smaller than the covert. It's been a great bait for me this year and for less than $3.50 per spinner. Flat out catches 'em. IMO they run better than the strike king mini
