Wow, this series truly captured the depth and rawness of our community's experiences. The commitment of each actor to their roles was truly brilliant! But as much as I loved it, it got me thinking: when do we move away from the narrative of struggle and hardship? When will we see our people on screen in different roles, beyond just gangsters, drug addicts, and alcoholics? Our community is so much more than that. We have stories of joy, love, resilience, and everyday life waiting to be told. Can we still capture the rawness of the Cape Flats, Eldorado Park, and other coloured communities, but showcase a comedy or a love story instead? Can we still be truthful to who we are while exploring new genres? There are countless narratives waiting to be explored within our community, from family dynamics and coming-of-age stories to historical dramas and romantic comedies. Let's challenge stereotypes, broaden representation, and celebrate the multifaceted nature of our humanity. Every community is rich with stories waiting to be told, each offering its own unique perspective and contribution to the tapestry of human experience. Let's keep pushing for diverse and authentic representation in media!

Toekomsrus in Randfontein is very Afrikaans. Cantona grew up both iñ the Coloured community and in the suburbs and there are a lot of Afrikaans schools. I thought he was from the Cape but in this interview he sounds just like Coloured children who went to school with white Afrikaans children. So he's fluent in both but more comfortable in Afrikaans.

love this interview.. we as people of color must break the cycle of gangsters.. I have nothing against any gang. I know its part of how people grew up and all that, but we don't have be associated with gangsters. Love the podcast
