I’ve modified the Saw whilst I wait for the metal blade to come! Lets see just how fast you can spin a Lego Technic wheel! 50,000 RPM?
I’ve used 14 L motors and 6 powered up hubs with 7.2v rechargeable batteries!
I lubricated the axles with olive oil to prevent damage!
I had fun doing this one :)
Welcome to all the new subs! It’s greatly appreciated 😀

The reason that the higher ratios don't make that much difference is that it takes an amount of energy to spin it at that speed, changing the ratio is like the length of a lever, yes theoretically youd achieve more speed, but you'd need more power to do it

I get what you are saying but usually a longer lever helps reduce effort/power needed to move a load. Having said that, if you increase the length of the lever from the fulcrum without increasing the thickness/strength of the lever you will run into problems. Or am i missing something?

I think that you could increase the maximum RPM by a good bit by swapping all of the bevel-type gears to the standard spur gears, which have less transmission losses due to the smaller teeth that mesh better.

@@GazRsExtremeBrickMachines you definitely should be wearing a full face shield at minimum...but I'd really prefer a solid piece of plexi or something between me and something spinning at that rate. A small 4cm wheel spinning at 50,000rpm experiences something like 1100+ g's and has a surface speed of somewhere around 40km/h. Looking at a lego wheel chart, at 4cm they're about 15g...which works out to a apparent weight (based on the g force) of around 16 kilograms. So to put it in perspective, imagine getting hit with a 16kg weight traveling 40km/h and that's roughly the amount of energy contained in that wheel. That's only accounting for the weight and rotational energy of the wheel and not the rest of the gear train either. (Very rough math, probably a bit off given I'm assuming all the rotational energy is translated into linear energy but it's in the ballpark and makes a point)

I see the wheels can’t reach theoretical top speed, since the friction is overcoming the torque power of the engines, i recommend lowering the gear ratios to get more torque, since you don’t need those insane ratios with your current power Also, try to use bigger/smaller gears for the ratios, since those will be lead to less friction in numbers
@GazRsExtremeBrickMachines
@GazRsExtremeBrickMachines 2 жыл бұрын
Hi there nice comment! I was struggling for the bigger gears so I may need to change the setup and you’re right there’s less friction with them. I thought the second to last ratio was the optimum though with this power despite losing x % Any lower and it lost speed like the one before! I’m using more motors next time(22) so I reckon the second to last ratio will get nearer to its potential! The last ratio was very hard to turn😀

@@GazRsExtremeBrickMachines I was a lego freak! I was making lego pistols and custom builds since I was a young kid in the early 90s. I so appreciate you looking at things from a different perspective. Really interesting to see. I'm gonna sub :D

If you want more torque , try Lego power functions

Hi there! Unless you’re using buwizz there’s no advantage really! And there’s buwizz 3 which can do powered up too. The powered up L motors are stronger than the power functions L motors and with the XL you can’t put them next to each other like this. Weirdly there’s a lot of miss information about the latest powered up stuff, I think a few youtubers especially did not like the change afew years ago. I’ve tested them thoroughly 😀
