Many of us started spinning for trout as our introduction to trout fishing. Spinning, which is fish with spinners, often called bladed spinners or inline spinners is one of the most popular for of trout fish right around the world.

Lovely fishing spot, great fish and a decent angler putting most back, reminds me of when I was a nipper at a similar stream using a garden fly (worm) frowned upon here in the UK. I shouldn't have been there but the stream has now been piped and a big housing estate built on it, I had a fair few brownies, nothing big but eating size. Thanks again, Norfolk, UK Ray

Love the Tassie Devils. They are an awesome impoundment lure for Yebbly if you reverse them to the slow wide flutter. I generally do not use the treble, you lose the lure on snags too often. A trace passed through the lure and tied to a swivel at the top and a single hook. Particularly in shallower water with snags. With a single inline or offset hook, you can also add a swimming tail of your favourite soft plastic curl, flutter or paddle tail or a fly can be used in place of a naked hook.
@robbiefishing
@robbiefishing 8 ай бұрын
Thanks Andrew. I actually have a like trolling video with Tassie Devils coming out next week. My mate Sandy hates the trebles. He uses hooks called Siwash hooks. Two single hooks facing in opposing directions. I've never caught anything other than trout on them. They seem to catch a lot of carp in Lake Dartmouth for some reason.
@AndrewFishman
@AndrewFishman 8 ай бұрын
Dartmouth has a lot of minnows and gudgeons and shrimp for forage, comes with the large shallow bays. The tassies mimic these well, especially on a lift drop pause. I do like the siwash, myself also, just never have any when I need them :D . With an upturned single you can literally bounce them off logs, rocks the bottom or whatever.They make excellent flathead lures in the salt. @@robbiefishing

Welcome to the real world Brok :) This comment makes me so happy for you. I have fished for many decades, the guys I originally learned from are all dead now pretty much. Back in the day it was books and magazines withe the odd show from Malcolm DOuglas or Rex Harrison, but my favourites were the articles written by John Bethune and John Turnball, both of whom I had the absolute pleasure and deep honour of meeting and receiving instruction from. Are you allowed to fish in streams that go through property, even if you have to go under a fence to get to it? I would avoid going through someone’s property to get to the stream but while I’m walking up it, I’m not sure if I’m trespassing or not.

depends on which State. If you can find the owner, it is polite to let them know, even in those states that have water bed access rights granted.

Hi mate, you are NEVER allowed to cross property without permission, that is trespassing. I was on private property in this video with full permission from the farmer.

Hey Robbie great video but how come you don't keep any trout If trout are an introduced fish how come they aren't youthinized like carp and talarpia
@robbiefishing
@robbiefishing 8 ай бұрын
Hi mate, I do keep a feed of trout from time to time. I don't like to keep too many because I prefer to release them to ensure there are plenty left to spawn and repopulate the streams. Unlike carp, trout fish well with lures, and they taste nice. They're a great sportfish.

"If trout are an introduced fish how come they aren't gratuitously killed like carp and talarpia" A question I have asked for many years. However, I think I am approaching it from the opposite side. "If trout are introduced, why are carp and tilapia killed out of hand and often with malicious glee"? Not implying that people such as Robbie, RKJ and others who dispatch their carp humanely are doing so, but many danglers do. True anglers just do the job if they are required to. Me, I just release all the fish I catch, except the odd big reddie, bream or flattie I take for dad for a feed. I cop a lot of hate for returning carp, but noone has been able to convince me of the bad things they are blamed for which were all problems before they spread in the 60s, and no one can tell me an alternative food source for big cod other than other big natives. In the local Canberra lakes, carp and redfin are naturally recruiting, spawning seasonally and providing a huge source of protein for birds, fish, water rats and other wild life. The natives are either left overs, the cod spawn in the rivers maybe but in limited numbers, and are introduced in huge numbers regularly. So, are the fish that are introduced (Cod and yellowbelly) more or less native to the lakes than those that can trace their ancestry back 50 years? That is alot of generations for a species to become naturalised.

If there wasn't any adds there would be no free content. I actually removed 2 of the add breaks that KZbin automatically placed in this video and this is what I get to say thanks? That is a financial cost to me to do that. Come on man, I have a family to feed. I have kids. This is my full time job. It costs a fortune for me to produce these videos. Not just in expensive camera equipment, but in fuel and vehicle expenses as well as fishing gear. Just last week I went to Conargo in NSW, that day cost me $230 alone. I can't spend that money if I don't make money. There's no such thing as a free lunch mate. Either you pay with money by taking out a KZbin premium subscription, or you pay with time by watching adds. I watch a lot of KZbin myself, particularly camera videos and old school comedy, but I never get upset with the adds because I realise the time and effort that the people that I watch go to in order to produce the content that I enjoy for free. Knowing that I am supporting them by watching the adds is the very least that I can do to show them my appreciation of all their hard work.
