Spinning for WILD River trout! (spring Fishing)

Trout season where I live starts on the 25th of march so I decided to head out on opening day and try catch my fist of the year! Probably the first trout session I've had in about 2 years too so was nice to get out after some in some shallow river spots!

Blue fox vibrax are killer as well for trout. Do you notice any change in silver, gold or copper blades. Do you think trout are attracted to one colour more than the other? Just curious, Cheers.

DB, persevere with jerkbaits when brown trout fishing. Rapala Countdown gold juvenile trout 3cm and 5cm. They're a bit pricey but two of each in your spinner box is needed if you're wanting to do some great fishing.

I used to go to a stream that looks more like a Narrow Shallow Canal with fast running water. And there are Trout In there twice the size of these. The Crazy thing Is, It runs right though the Middle of a Tiny Village Town centure. And until I started feeding them with a Pork Pie, even the People who live there, didn't know there was any In there. You have to know what You are looking for to spot them, a bit like Pike. Great session with more to come.

Dan, if you happen to go trout fishing often enough you should give small shads a try. People here in France are big on the soft plastic trout fishing game and it's a bloody effective technique. They aren't really used to seeing shads as much so yeah give them a try if you're keen. Get some white ones in the 5 to 7cm range and make us a vid!

On the dove where I am trout actively avoid spinners for some reason, I have loads of luck with shads and other TRD bug lures though. They're also eating super slow moving bait right now for me.

Try using white or black spinner bait called “Rooster Tail” from Bass Pro Shop or Cabela’s ! Excellent spinners that I use.

basically, triple hook (without barb obviously) can be less dangerous for the trout, because fish can’t swallow it entirely, meanwhile if u use a single hook trout could eat it deeper

Just so you know, it's the close season for trout in uk right now, as it's their spawn season. When it opens in April, you could try small aglias and comets. Try casting upstream and reel fast to make it spin while it comes back to you. Good luck!

As far as I'm aware a close season means close season for all fish in that river, some still waters and canals allow fishing during close season but if your area isn't 1 that allows you to fish during a close season then no you can't fish for them, as I said it's a close season for all fish not just certain species

@@1000000trs They're so light I can't cast them far or with any certain accuracy.

@@rancidstain yep, the siz 0 and size 1 need a very light line and even then won't cope with any wind. I find the size 2 on a 6lb line and a very light rod works lovely. Also, Mepps sold on Amazon and Ebay are seldom genuine in my experience and don't cast or spin properly; so I get all mine from an online tackle-shop now. Just need to remember to crush the barbs with a pair of pliers so they are easy to unhook.

I think you said that spinner is a #2? If so that's way to big. #2 and bigger will catch trout but they will only be the most aggressive/most desperate for food. Something smaller thats more realistic as far as being the size of things they eat on a regular basis will dramatically increase the number of bites you get. I'd switch to a #1 or #0 in either the bell body or bullet body spinner (brand doesn't matter but my box has mostly Panther Martin's and blue fox. If you go with Panter Martin a #2 or #4 is the way to go. (#2 is the smallest one they have that I'm aware of I think it's 1/16th Oz) Personal favorite colors are the black body gold blade or yellow body silver blade. Both are deadly. Oh little something I've recently found out - Danielson's knock off panther Martin works amazingly well and they are a fraction of the cost of a real one.

I wonder if these kids who make these videos ever follow the lure weight recommendations printed on the rod. Or better yet, make any effort to learn how to cast a spinning rod correctly , or to match the hatch as far as color and lure size. They might even learn how to read the water as opposed to just beating the stream to a froth with a lure designed for bass fishing.

There’s no excuse for using barbed trebles for this type of fishing. I used to do it myself when I was young and stupid, and the damage that hooks like this cause to small trout is horrendous - the treble would often be really difficult to remove, and often caused severe, probably lethal, injury to the fish. Treble hooks should be banned for this type of fishing, and only barbless hooks should be used.

Took my brand new Battle II 5000 for a spin yesterday for the very first time and I hooked a 20lb yellowtail using a Ugly Stik X2 (medium hard) rod kzbin.infoUgkxM68VkfsQhHaabDce1IwOCXuvumcpbZ_k . This combo was recommended on some website and it did not disappoint me. The reel is smooth, the drag click is pretty cool cause i think it adds to the excitement of fighting the fish, personally the drag is my favorite part. I use braid and 300 yards will fill the entire spool. This combo is my main setup from now on although I have to disclose I am new to fishing.
