Thanks for sharing. As I am right handed, I always buy a reel with changeable handle sides, and I have mine on the right hand side, which I find more comfortable.
@paulvandermaas66397 ай бұрын
Normally you hold the rod in your dominant hand and wind with your "weaker" hand. If you are right handed you would normally hold your rod in your right and reel with your left, and vice versa. You are an exception 😊

hiya gary. thinking about fishing the fish quay as apparently its an easy spot. i would use an up to 25g spinning rod(is that ok) and a spinner for coalies or whatever. with probably 10-15lb line. how would i actually get the fish up the river wall as its a distance from the water? also, would it be worth using a sabiki rig here for some livebaits which i can then float fish off whitley pipe?
@fishingintheukgarywood6 ай бұрын
Hi, that sounds like a good set up. I usually handball them up when I'm fishing the other side of the river with a similar setup. I'm not sure about whitley Pipe as I haven't fished there before.
@hesalovelybuoy59446 ай бұрын
@@fishingintheukgarywood i went fishing off whitley pipe today with a handline and float rig, with raw prawns. no fish caught, i couldnt cast that far.

@fishingintheukgarywood7 ай бұрын
Thanks mate. The rocks along the leas in shields are canny. I'm not sure if they have the end of the groyne still blocked off aswell but think you can still fish from the start of shields pier up to the gate.

Hi mate, I’m just starting to get back into fishing after many years away due to health reasons, can I ask you, when do the mackerel come onto South Shields pier? Many thanks , Paul.

Problem you will have is that after the big storm shields + Roker piers were both badly damaged and unlikely to be open for along time this year.
@fishingintheukgarywood7 ай бұрын
Thanks Paul, as Carl said the piers were damaged in the storm, the only part of shields pier you will be able to fish from is the first part up to the gate. The mackerel usually come in about June / July and when they are fully in you can catch them from the small beach next to the pier ( little haven beach) and also from the river at the walkway just along from the groyne.
