Ok guys, for those of you that don't know al-a-re la-ye al-a-re la-yo is slang in Japanese. That entire line is slang in fact. It doesn't translate very easily into English but the closest i can think of is "that is how it is, that is how things always have been and always will be" but more like "that's how i am" kind of "that's how it is". Like i said the slang doesn't translate very well but i thought I'd tell everyone what it meant Edit: i literally live in Japan. I think i know what we say. Whether the slang term came from the song or not, it won't change the FACT that we use it and that's what it means

I can't say how I know, but I think it's the sound of the plucked string instruments that sound very different. In Chinese music it is very high pitched short plucks I think. I can tell when I listen to them somehow.
