Oh yes. It's a good sturdy 3-ply with plenty of length, so I can see it being made into anything from socks and/or mitts to a shawl, depending on the person it goes to.. 🤔

Hello. First time on your channel. I will order my own Eel Wheel soon. Two spinner friends have inspired me to give it a try so I'm pursuing gathering tools and knowledge for that inevitable moment. I happen to like Olive green, and it looks beautiful paired with the blues, so I think the yarn turned out beautifully. Two friends who also love olive green I feel certain they would agree. I'm sure, I too, will occasionally make yarn that I feel is less attractive simply due to the color or color combination. If everything goes as planned and I learn well enough, that color for me would be pink. I'm definitely not a fan of anything pink, which includes the worst of them, that pinky peach salmon shade. I hope I also have such a great result when I eventually run into some fiber that is not my jam either.

I found it fascinating watching you spin on the espinner. I've got a home made one that hubby found in a thrift store but I've not used it yet (too chicken I think). I do have a beautiful wheel (a Louet Victoria) and a couple of spindles (my favourite is the Golding Cherry ring-spindle) but I'm an indifferent spinner as yet. I haven't done any spinning in ages. Partly because I got some stunning fibre and when I had spun it, it was all muddy and not nice at all and I was really disappointed.
@MaireColclough
@MaireColclough 2 жыл бұрын
Sometimes a yarn will spin up that way...I like to see how others spin a specific fibre. If you're ok with using Ravelry, there are a bunch of groups to browse. Otherwise, instagram is your friend. As for the diy e-spinner...check for breaks in any electrical cables before plugging in. Also, unplug asap if you smell ANYTHING weird (burning, ozone, etc). Otherwise...give it a try! You may just find its a valuable new tool 😃

Beautiful yarn in it self, if you don't think of it in ways of wardrobe. Most people I know love and look good in olive and warm earthy tones... but not me. I need stronger and cooler tones, and that is sometimes a challenge when it comes to natural fibers.

I agree with you on the colour, not the biggest fan. The way the colours come together and create a kinda interrupted gradient with that touch of lavender grey is kinda lovely though. I suspect Claude is looking for a commercial yarn from a specific era - handspun (while always nice to work with) is probably not the yarn she's looking for. And that's OK. I think I'm getting an idea of where this yarn belongs. Maybe I'll feature it again soon 😉

I am equal parts intrigued and intimidated by spinning. Back when I first learned to knit, I cobbled together a DIY drop spindle from popsicle sticks and dowels, and used it to spin (please don't judge me) cotton balls. What you've got going on here is light-years ahead of my meager experiments, but it kinda makes me want to try nonetheless. I *really* wanted your skein to turn out blue-and-gold instead of... greenish. Up close, when you can see the separate colors, it's still kind of pretty! It's just when you back up a couple of steps and they blend together that it becomes a bit sad, subjectively. Definitely looking forward to more spinning content, when you find other colors to try!

Besides, Mum was a high-numbered finalist in the 'whoever dies with the most thread, fabric, wool wins' competition. That's a bomb in my genetic code that I don't want to trip-wire over. The fabric stash is already fighting for space in here... I have sewing. I have leatherwork. I have mixed media.
