This has been working so well for my kids and for myself. Its a great way to check in daily with the teens and a great way to teach some accountability to the younger ones.

Pan - thank you for sharing this 💡 I might get a pretty notebook though, cause why not 😉

Thank you so much for sharing this. I have wanted a simple way of doing things and I looked into bullet planning but that seemed like too much work. This is perfect. In my state it's not required to track, but I like to have everyone in the house to be able to see what needs to be done, especially dad who has that occasional day home where he may need to help. My oldest is in hs and I think this will still work well.

I started this the last few months of our school year and it worked so well! Definitely going to be a staple in our homeschool.

I own the student planners digitally from your website, have you had anyone print out the week overview and use that as the spiral notebook? I was considering doing that for my 11 year old and 8 year old, the 14 year old has her own planner and is motivated.❤

Yes! That is what I used as my kids moved into the teen years. I would do more by the week as their worked changed and they got older. My daughter ended up liking that very much and eventually moved to her own planner. My boys like me to use the grid to write what they should do each day.

Pam, what do your kids use for typing?

I recently watched Sarah’s video on spiral note-booking but couldn’t find the link to the master list she referenced. She said the master list was key in using this method. Can anyone help me find that?

You make the master list yourself of all the subjects you could possibly put on their list. I just kept mine in my Notes app on my phone last year. After a month or so I use it less and less.

If you have pre-readers, then this is not so much a list of what they can do independently, or is it? Would it be a list of what you will do together, like math and reading? And what happens if children finish their list of independent work before you can work with them on reading, or teach their math lesson, etc? If I don't write down their math or reading, then I won't have a reflection of what they have done for the day, and they might run off thinking that was all they had to do. When I used this, I couldn't have them use this much for independent work because there was only so much they could do before they had to have help.

Sorry! When I say independent work here I mean work they are not doing with others in a group setting. So yes it is work you are doing together for prereaders and then for older kids some they do completely alone and some they do with you.
