Here are some beautiful spirals :)
I am and will be very busy with my studies and exams for the next few months, so I thought I would make a quick little video of some spirals. After this school semester, I will start working on more videos with your requests. I hope you enjoy!

It is CRIMINAL that they’ve removed spirals as a required element. Some of the most exquisite spirals in this video, thank you for this! It will always be Sasha Cohen and Mao Asada for me!! And Jason Brown’s is awesome too!

It takes strength to hold a spiral for more than 3 seconds. It's not just an old-school flimsy element.

All are nice.But I love Michelle,Sasha Cohen and Mao’s in particular. Michelle has the speed,ice coverage and delivery.Mao has the stunning position,flexibility and difficulty for holding a fan spiral.Sasha Cohen just has everything about a great spiral.

本当に戻してほしいですよね。女子の誰もが3回転5種または6種を跳べるようになってきたのと同様に、みんなが同じレベルにたどり着いたのが早かったんですよね。競技である以上、上限に届き誰もが最高値を出してしまうものは競技性の観点から排除していくのは当然の摂理なのですが、芸術的観点としては本当にまた観たいですね。プロアイスショーで観ましょう。

Spirals were loved by the fans. They should have left them in as a required element. ONE of the things that killed the popularization of skating!

Spirals and split jumps are what I miss most in figure skating. I’m kinda sad you didn’t include Karolina Costner’s. Hers was one of my favorites.

Mao Asadaが得意だったからです。ISUはMaoに得点を取らせたくなくて、2012年にSprial S.を排除。羽生がSEIMEIを滑ると高得点を出すので、羽生にSEIMEI を滑らせないように、ルールに音楽がスタートすると同時に動くことを禁止　を追加したのと同じ理屈です。

@@autumnleaves5973 skaters still do spirals today. And if every single skater still did a 10 seconds spiral, people would find it boring and repetitive. You only like it because it has become rarer.

She had one of the best ice coverage, speed, and use of edge. These are more important than position(=flexibility).

ここにはないけど浅田さんのボストンワールド蝶々夫人のスパイラルは本当に美しいと思った。浅田さんのスパイラルは、若い頃は柔軟性は素晴らしいもののスピードちょっと微妙かな？ぐらい思ってたけど、どんどん上手くなって、白鳥の湖あたりからまさに芸術だった。コレオじゃなくてスパイラルシークエンスでたっぷり見たかったな😢 話が逸れましたが、この動画だとミシェル・クワンのスパイラルがやはり一番好きです！素晴らしいスピードとポジションと笑顔の長洲さんのものも絶品ですね❤ スパイラルシークエンス復活させて、上手い選手に点つけてほしいなあ。スピードがあって、ポジションも美しく、チェンジエッジも上手くできる子、現役に何人ぐらいいるだろう…

@@tappudansuyanagi 私は舞依ちゃんのファンですし、彼女のスパイラルも好きな方なんですけど、ただあの舞依ちゃんでもチェンジエッジの時は多少グラついてるように見えるんですよね😅 現役後期の真央ちゃんのエッジワークは素晴らしいものがあったと思います。柔軟性の一点のみでスパイラルを持ち上げられがちな選手ですが、SpSq時代より後期の方がずっと上手いです。

Of course, Michelle Kwan. Change of edge spiral is Michelle's signature move. I also enjoy Michelle's Charlotte spiral, when her finger touched the ice just like a kiss. ❤

@@Pitorro_X Again, Sasha has the flexibility no question..even Bobek had it as well but they both cannot hold a candle to Michelle's because she had the steady edge, the inside and outside switch, as well as it being her signature...Michelle's falling leaf was also more iconic than Sasha's split jump.

LOVELY Video! Thank you so much for the compliation! A great spiral is so difficult. Would love it if they brought it back with a high base value too. I do like a good choreo sequence but dislike a lot of programs that have NO choreography EXCEPT the choreo. Choreography should be interwoven into a whole program!

@@e.i.3077 Actually, Michelle's spiral got better speed , ice cover, power, and balance than Sasha's. 👍 Change of edge spiral is Michelle's signature move. I also enjoy Michelle's Charlotte spiral, when her finger touched the ice just like a kiss. 🤩

Interesting to end with Yuna's, given that hers is famously controversial for having speed but less-than-pristine positions and extension. Was surprised at Ashley's quality. To this day there's never been one like Sasha's

Mao rarely talks about her injuries herself because she says they are excuses, but she was photographed walking at the 2013 Japan Games with two friends supporting her. She was also photographed being patted on the hip by a concerned friend. You shouldn't be so sure that just because she's flexible, she doesn't have pain in her back.

They were time consuming, not worth a lot of points and most skaters did not do them well. Outside of the top 5% of the ladies the rest of the spirals were tedious to watch and poorly done. I think they replaced them with the Choreo Sequence to allow more creativity in expression and audience appeal.

@@singsongeric Honestly I think this change is for the best. People find it fascinating now because they don't see them that much anymore, but if they were to see them in every single program everyone would find it boring and repetitive. And besides, it's not as if spirals had completely disappeared. People just miss them because they're rare. Everything works like that.

@luigiheinemeneghim9234 they’re gone because the ISU chooses to heavily reward technical merit over artistic components. So now it’s all about jumps and nothing else, so it’s beyond boring. 🤷🏽‍♀️

それはないでしょうよ。たしかコレオシークエンスに変わったのは2012年からだと記憶してるけど、当時はスパイラルポジションを含むコレオ、だったからね。以前ほど必須ではなくなっとは言えさ。何でもかんでも某選手が、みたいな言い方はどうかと思うよ。実際2013年のワールドで、コレオシークエンスでスパイラルをしてるからね。短いけどさ。

Which of those were the highest valued/most difficult accordind to the code of points? I find spirals to be so fascinating but dont find much info about them :(

According to the code most of these would have gotten the max value. The basic formula for spiral sequence in the code is not difficult to achieve, most skaters were able to get level 4 even if it's not the best spiral ever. If I had to assess difficulty outside of just points, I would say Sasha's from 2010 and Shizuka's forward spiral were probably the hardest to do.

@@singsongeric oh i see... thats actually sad, maybe if ISU were more strict in the evaluation and had rewarded more points to difficulty in spiral sequences, maybe skaters could have come up with new, more difficult and creative spirals right? :(
