Get out of here with this spammy shit that has nothing to do with board games. Board gamers trust their boyfriends/girlfriends because we are decent people. Or we’re single.

I believe something not explicitly said in this is that Vital Strength's innate is different from most other repeats, in that the spirit does not need to pay the energy cost again (in comparison with Powerstorm, etc.). Therefore, at max threshold, a spirit can repeat a 6 energy power without paying for it - which is insane. I feel like focusing on card plays and elements, and buffing up someone else is an underestimated way to play this spirit.

Yeah, top track means earth can play more majors, but bottom track means earth plays more minors and provides more support in repeats. Both are fun. Just make sure to have enough energy to play your own cards well

Yes, keep em comin! This series is fantastic My favorite partner with Vital Strength of the Earth is Serpent Slumbering Beneath the Island... Serpent lets you play 2 cards turn 1, letting you play Draw of Fruitful Earth + Rituals of Destruction, triggering Earth's innate, letting a 3rd spirit repeat a cost 1 power on turn 1! Earth's innate is usually ignored in most games I've played though. It's really hard to build around and reach consistently without a supporting power/spirit. For players that like Vital Strength of the Earth's playstyle but are willing to take a bite into the slightly higher complexity spirits, you should try out A Spread of Rampant Green next. SRG is much more support focused but the innate behaves very much like A Year of Perfect Stillness. Careful planning and placement of sacred sites and forcing invaders into those lands so they can then skip their action; this is very much still the main macro strategy. Coincidentally, or probably as intended thematically speaking, SRG and Earth are a fantastic 2 spirit team with great synergies

Currently my second favorite spirit! Guard the Healing Land and A Year of Perfect Stillness are two of the best cards in the game in my book. Removing blight fast and then defending 4 (or 7 with your special rules) to stave off another potential blighting, all in one turn with one card? So good. I also just really enjoy the feeling of slowly ramping from defensive wall to major power-slinging offensive force by the late game. Great spirit.

My dad played Vital Strength of the Earth one game and he was a defense master. Several times he shut down lands with Perfect Stillness (especially one coastal mountain with two cities, two towns, and a few explorers that was about to ravage in mountains and build in coastal), and tossed out a few defense cards that stopped the occasional ravage, allowing us to wipe them out the next turn while we dealt with other problem spots. He got a lot of action off of his starting cards (he did the reclaim and the +1 card (usually a minor defense card) growth options a lot). He basically got off the repeat power card with 1 or less energy almost every turn. Which he used a lot himself (which dealt with his lower card plays) or gave the occasional repeat to us.

My favourite combo is using the repeat from it's inmate for Rituals of Destruction, and you can do it with it's own power cards. So even if you don't get good cards you can play defensive till you get this 3 card combo going.

Thanks for the great video. Since I have not played all of the spirits of the core box, yet, I'd also be interested in videos for the other ones.

does stone team? It does now! Also I have found defend effects to be REALLY good in this game, especially if you like using the dahan.

In my very first game of Spirit Island, I played a solo game with Vital Earth and River surges in Sunlight. Somehow I missed that spirits have special rules so I played the game without the added defense from Earth and without Rivers easy holy sites in wetlands. It was pretty tough but I eeked out a win on the last possible turn. Shortly afterwards I realized I had missed the special rules. 😂

I love how in most co op games you can set up games that are meant for 2+ players and still be able to play them yourself
