Spirit Spotlight: Lightning's Swift Strike

This gives me a newfound appreciation for the thunderbird. I always told players "not a lot of depth to this one. You blow things up." but that doesn't mean the spirit is boring, or ineffective. It's a little one dimensional, it does one thing - but that thing is good. Really good. And it has more nuance than I thought.

I played it for my 2nd game together wit SflF (solo). Only game I have forfeited so far. I did not get Lightning to work that time. XD

Lightning's Swift Strike often actually feels more like a support spirit that can hold its own than a real damage dealer. In the late game, River, Ocean, Snek, Keeper, Wildfire, Thunderspeaker and (sometimes) Earth feel a lot more destructive. I think this is mostly because of the limited energy you have as Lightning, getting major powers isn't all that good usually

As a non native English speaker, I found that it is quite hard to understand some of the words pronunciation by the narrator, maybe because of the speed he uttered the words, or sometimes the narrator mumbled the words. I believe at one point even youtube's translation became unable to correctly translate, it used the word urinate, which I do not think is what the narrator said. It might not be a good idea to narrate audio books. Just my opinion.

Hold on... do I understand that you can't use the elements of slow powers on your fast phase?... Wow, that's a major oversight by me. Where does it say that?

Page 16 of the rulebook, Anatomy of Powers #3: "You gain Elements the moment you pay for a Power Card, regardless of whether the Power is Fast or Slow". Hope this helps! Get to destroying!

Thank you very much GTG, waited 7 long days for this vid ;) , which normaly comes earlyer in the month, but i suggest the virus as the reason. I like the combination of the standard and jagged earth spirits in this playlist. But for the next vid, please speak slower (for example your Vital strengh video was good slow. Or do you want to speak like Lightnings?)

This videos have been coming out at the same time as the Jagged Earth updates on their kickstarter, which is the first Tuesday of each month. This one came later because the first Tuesday came later.

To be honest I don't know how to win solo with this guy start from 3 level. Is almost impossible… cannot even think about level 6

I don't like playing this spirit. It's too limited for my play style. It's cool making powers fast but its not helpful as much on the board without assistance of certain other spirits. You generate energy over time to fuel powers, but the two uses you get are either making everyone else better (slow powers become fast), or taking out one problem when there are generally more than one at a time. It doesn't do enough for me, nor is it flexible.

For my money, lighting is one of, if not the, worst spirit in the game (at least the base game plus jagged earth, and branch and claw). It's so one dimensional and boring, and so hampered by its card gaining ability.
