Sometimes Courtney and the boys just need to remind people…..

What I love about this band the most is the variety and diversity. From getting your face melted off with this one, Belacarra, and Holy Roller to the introspective places Constance and Eternal Blue take you and finally just making you just want to groove and dance like Rotoscope and Jaded. Bottom line is when there is new Spiritbox dropping, the day just gets better and better.

Love that Spiritbox makes their own sound. they’ re just gonna do their own thing. much better than responding to critics.

Only problem I have with it is the standard song structure into the chorus. They have the great ability to change it up just like Token and Annimate. Other than that I love it. The chonky part was fantastic but they can take it farther. There is a lot of talent and great production with their band

Love the instrumentals on this track, the breakdown was so good! Courtney's vocals are great here but I prefer having a wider range and I do miss the cleans on this track. It does work better though listening through the EP so far as a whole since the other tracks have plenty of cleans!

Love how heavy this track is, Spiritbox brings the heat. Any chance at seeing a Casey Sabol - The Black Queen reaction?

This one is fun, but Jaded is still my favorite as an overall song. It's interesting how different all 3 are and I'm curious to see what they did with the rest of the EP. Josh's vocals made The Void better for me live, but I'm still pretty meh on it. It's not just that "it isn't heavy" or "there's no screaming" because I really enjoy their other clean vocal songs. I just can't put my finger on exactly what it is that throws me off with that one.
@Zuub470 Жыл бұрын
I'm with you, I can't stand the Void and I'm not sure why. I preferred Jaded initially, but Cellar Door has climbed above it for me, and made me really excited for the album.
@ensco7 Жыл бұрын
I really like The Void now but what initially put me off was a combination of the following: - melody being too deep into the mix, too much distorted noise in the foreground - melody in the chorus (also vocal melody) feels a bit slow in comparison to the fast instrumentals. Initially wished all choruses were like the third one. But in terms of progression, it just makes sense to save that freeing space along with the accentuated lead guitar for extra emotional impact for the climax. - melody doesn't have much range. Something that might be a bit underwhelming in Jaded's chorus as well, at least at first listen. After a while, you start to appreciate that it's chill but rather intricate. - heavy-stroked or "bassy" monotonous bridge relatively boring That are all of its potential weaknesses I think. But I dig it now and have to keep myself from singing along lol. I also really like Jaded as well as the new banger. Cellar Door is perfect for Halloween.

@@Zuub470 Yeah not a fan of the void. But to be honest, There are not many tracks from Spiritbox I don't like lol I just love that band! A few misses tho for sure, No band is flawless in anyone's eyes. Another one I'm not keen on is Rotoscope.. For some reason. Jaded is a great track no question! What a gem to bounce back on KZbin with lol. And then we have Cellar Door which I think is great too in its nasty but arty way... That key flowing between the new tracks makes me think the next album is gonna have some connected flow?
@Zuub470 Жыл бұрын
@@mozzjones6943 The Void being my least favorite Spiritbox song is still a high bar, It is the first miss from them for me, and I still don't hate it. Rotoscope was ironically my least favorite song from the Rotoscope EP but I still love it and that entire EP is high on my list.

The guitar and drums are in different time signatures, which is why the breakdown feels ridiculous and chaotic. It’s not a commonly used technique by bands more mainstream adjacent, but I can think of a few who do drums in 4/4, but guitars in obscure ones like 13/8.
@drumkidstu Жыл бұрын
Meshuggah was the pioneer of this.
@bradkohl99 Жыл бұрын
@@drumkidstu I wouldn’t say that, but they were definitely one of the more prominent bands doing it.
@drumkidstu Жыл бұрын
@@bradkohl99 I mean they literally were and are the pioneers of doing this stuff. They’ve been around since 1987. Are they the first band to sync kick drums and guitars together no, but they were the first to put the drummer’s hands in 4 and the guitars, bass, and kick drums in something different. You can go back to their debut album in 91 and it’s everywhere. They just have continually refined it.
