I think this not work, cus Skirmisher is not related as 'Archer'. Otherwise Mayans would have cheaper Skirms, Italians would have +1/1 or Ethiopians would attack faster. Skirmisher bonus must be literally placed as Skirmisher bonus, like Aztecs, Incas or Byzantinees have it :-).

It does actually apply. I checked in game, elite skirm does 2 damage to palisades post imp, 4 if they have a saracen ally. Not sure why it went up by 2, possibly some rounding

One thing you didn't mention is the fact that the Britons don't get thumb ring. So the imperial skirmisher accuracy bonus goes GREAT with the Britons.

Nice video man! Just a small error I noticed, the Imperial Skirmisher actually has 3 extra bonus dmg vs. cav archers, not 4 as you said. They do however have one more extra bonus damage against archers in general, so they have at total of 8 bonus damage against CA, compared to the 6 bonus damage of the Elite Skirms. :)

This also makes them a really strong against units without very high pierce armor. 8 damage against the 5 armor of champions(usually a anti trash unit) is not bad, and the Aztec imperial skirmisher is pretty much a damage output unit.

Quick note about trash wars: fully upgraded elite skirms have 7 attack, and hussars and cavaliers have 6 pierce armor, making them an exceptionally strong counter. Imperial skirms, though, with 8 damage, do 2 instead of 1 damage, making them twice as effective against hussars and cavaliers as regular elite skirms. Aztec imp skirms have 9 attack total, and do 3 damage to hussars, making them as effective at taking them down as bowmen are at taking down scout cavalry. Aztec imp skirms also do as much damage as elite plumed archers, and do twice as much damage to infantry are regular elite skirms (4 instead of 2).

don't forget siege with their 6 pierce armor. +1 from elite skrim doubles their damage against siege, and aztec imp skrim gets triple damage compared to generic elite skrim. honestly aztec with this don't even need regular archers. this probably does well against the same things with the benefit of countering enemy archers and don't dipping into your gold pool, which can be used for siege or whatever instead.

That +1 pierce is so much bigger than you might think otherwise. It effectively halves damages taken by Arbalests for civs with Ring Archer Armor!

My main impression is "it's a skirmisher but bettererer." There's no matchup that really changes all that fundamentally but you'll just notice every engagement with these things goes sightly more favorably. Unless they're against cavaliers anyway. Then they are equally useless.

Hi Spirit, it seems you got the attack bonuses against cav archers mixed up a bit: Regular skirms have 3 bonus dmg vs archers, which includes cav archers. Elite Skirms have 4 bonus dmg vs. archers and 2 extra bonus dmg vs. cav archers for a total of +6 bonus dmg. Imp Skirms have 5 bonus dmg vs. archers and 3 extra bonus dmg vs. cav archers for a total of +8 bonus dmg. I would recommend using Advanced Genie Editor to confirm stuff like this.

Yeah, I forgot to add the cavalry archer's 4 pierce armour when I found that value. Normally I double check all that stuff while putting the clips together, but in this case I didn't both because I considered it a pretty inconsequential value, with the 4 attacks vs 5 attacks to kill them being the important difference.

I don't quite understand what their pierce armor would have to do with it, but okay :) Could you maybe add this in an annotation? With the table at 3:55 some people might misinterpret that to think that skirms do less damage to cav archers than to archers.

I think they should get increased attack rate (like hussar) rather than +1 attack. That +1 makes them hit a lot higher vs anything less than 3 base pierce armor (paladin and eagles).

Also, I was pretty disappointing when I saw they have the same HP as Elite Skirmishers, but the +1Pierce Armor and +1 Attack, plus the extra bonuses, are already enough to make the unit a worthy upgrade. Having+5HP would've been OP.

I was very happy when they added a upgrade to the skirmishers, even tho is for a civ and his team only but I never had such a succesful defensive build as the vietnameze against bots, I had no worries blomming a large economy, nothing could stand my Rain.
