This is Spiritual Studies session #24. This session focuses on the many ways that plants are involved in spirituality, religion, and myth. The Tree of Knowledge, Rastafarianism, the Medieval understanding of the magic of plants, how cultures venerate and demonize certain herbs/mushrooms, the mysterious Hindu Soma, and strangely enough how the Santa mythos is originated in shamanic sacred medicine, all of this is touched on by this very broad stroke of a subject.

My main takeaway from this is that Christianity is a complete forgery of old worship which would explain why many Christians feel so connected to their god, they're tapping into ancient spirituality. Imagine if they did it correctly.

Can't remember if you talked abt this in this video or in your norse paganism video ~ I know many believe the world tree was considered to be an Ash, but an alternative theory is that it was actually the Yew...you familiar? 🌿

Glad you picked up on that. You're right, this seems to be a disparity between the Celts and the Norse in regards to the World Tree. Yew for the Celts, Ash for the Norse is what they say. However... Yew is all about death and rebirth, thus the symbol of Hecate for the Greeks. This seems like a natural choice. My assumption here is there was disparity in the story telling lore of the norse, we're the normative lore from essentially the one questionable post-christianization source, and we have to remember they were not all under the exact same beliefs, the Norse lived in various chiefdoms. With this said, I think it's safe to say that the original lore varied on this topic depending on where and when in the ancient past, these cultures aren't as separated as it's presented, there are meshing zones and the past ultimately picks one version and call its the end all be all. So to answer simply, I'd say, both... but I secretly like the yew interpretation better.

Btw just By curiosity did you know that jesus babtisism is also linked in sun momements like his birth and dead. (When jesus rise from Water you can see dove landing). And everytime sun goes Down in northern hemisphere it rises up where the constellation of the dove is. Discovered this By Reading bible first time and didnt find anyone who had discovered it. Bullshit! Complete fossil record? Mushrooms do not biomineralise and so do not readily enter the fossil record. Theories regarding their evolutionary divergence 1.2 billion years ago come from DNA studies by Schüssler et al., 2001; Tehler et al., 2000 and studies of the co-evolution of roots and micorrhizas suggest colonisation during the Cambrian. 'The Fossil Record' has no beginning and will never be complete. Tristan: generalisations and disinformation to support a confirmation bias towards what you consider rational or reasonable are the worst kind of idiocy hiding behind a facade of intellectualism. Your idea of "using" something objectively is a phenomenal joke. Wise up!

There is when the plant is in danger from being over harvested. And Native spirituality is a closed practice and thus using sage in the way they do it is in fact wrong, especially when white settlers and Spanish colonizers genocided them and attempted to erase any signs of their practices. So yeah there is a moral wrong
