Spirt of Goodyear Farewell Tour Video

During the second week in October, the Goodyear blimp "Spirit of Goodyear" spent its last week in Akron, OH. This video is a sample segment that will appear as part of a new documentary film "Goodyear Blimp NT: A New Journey Begins." Take the journey as Goodyear begins the process of replacing the GZ-20 & GZ-20A blimps with the new Goodyear Blimp NT.

The Goodyear blimp base is only 5minutes from my house and it flies right over my house whenever it's in town in Pompano Beach, Fl. It's really quite a sight to see.

THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS.... I live in lakemore Ohio on the south side of Springfield lake between wingfoot and the big hanger at Lockheed martian in south Akron. almost everyday during the summer i would ride for about 15 min on the back roads over to wingfoot and watch blimp operations .... god bless the SOG and her crew and there families thanks for the memories and see the NT at it first flight in 2014....by the way i cry every time i see the end of the video

The first of the new NTs was recently completed. It is called "Wingfoot One" and is based in Pompano Beach, Florida. Two more were also built: "Wingfoot Two," which is based in Carson, California; and "Wingfoot Three," the newest of the fleet, based at Akron.

For me it's not about the technology because I don't have to fly these new ships. As a life-long airship enthusiast though, I'm really gonna miss the classic design/shape of the GYB GZ-20 :(.
