One of the greatest spectacles in Eastern Slovakia in terms of medieval history. The magnificent ruins of Spis Castle. The political, administrative, economic and cultural centre of the Spiš county, or as it was called at the time of the Hungarian Kingdom, The SEPEŠ county.
The last royal owner was the king of Hungary, Matyás Korvín, until the 1490.
The Spiš castle is an extraordinary construction monument, but it also deserves recognition for being an important centre of the entire region for about 4 centuries.
It is a spectacular site to visit and with a lot of effort going towards its reconstruction and new exhibits, it will be even more so in future.
