I think when people say “this is why I left the church” they may be referring to the unchecked power pastors have. Mike Todd is such a popular public figure; he has a responsibility to not abuse his platform by spreading misinformation and sensationalism. And this isn’t the first time he’s stepped into sensationalism.

Agreed, I think most folks saying “this is why I left the church” are referring to what people’s actions represent/the principal of the action more than that specific instance (e.g., the pastor that wouldn’t open their doors to people in need during a storm may remind people of a local pastor that was similarly unwelcoming, and that *type* of behavior is what made them leave the church).

I respect Kev's decision not to drag Mike Todd, but what he did highlights a bigger issue within the church, which is how much gets accepted and the behavior that gets swept under the rug by pastors and church leaders. My question is if he wasn't dragged for this on the internet, would he have thought it was wrong? When People say Mike Todd is the reason they left the church, I think what they really mean is unchecked, unacceptable behavior in church pastors and leaders that has caused real harm, hurt and damage.

Cats, especially in the cold, tend to curl up on the wheels of cars, that's what I'm assuming what went on here. I guess it's comfortable or something; so cat owners usually have a routine of checking their tires before they head out because they know their cat could be chilling up under the car. So I don't understand why after more than one incident no one was checking

I honestly stopped going to church in my late teens after my cousin died in a car accident. I was tired of hearing “she’s in a better place” & “everything happens for a reason.” I also had issues with the way I knew leaders in the church conducted themselves outside of church but portrayed themselves a different way on Sunday. 🤷🏽‍♀️ Furthermore, It’s difficult for me to reconcile what I know now about how Christianity was pushed on slaves to keep them docile and is still maintaining these beliefs. I definitely still believe but I don’t believe I need to go to church every Sunday to have a relationship with God. Organized religion is not for me.
