Got a 2023 and here’s what you need to get these dialed in - Exhaust with a flash from 2 Wheel Dyno Works. Exhaust will drop like 16lbs and let the bike breathe for the tune. I bought a second-hand mt09 about 6 years ago and absolutely love it. I used to be the spec sheet guy with sport bikes, but then when I ended up buying the mt09 I realised that any bike over 100hp is going to be insanely fun, so the next important thing is actually living with it. Naked bikes are just amazing daily and traffic bikes, and they have more than enough power to keep things interesting in the twisties. For that reason, and the fact that the cb1000r is one of the most beautiful bikes in class, if not one of the most beautiful bikes in the last 10 years, it's been the bike I've often thought would be my next sport bike.

actually it doesnt make any sense at all, which is why this bike didnt sell at all. having more than 100hp on the street is completely useless, and that futility is doubled when theres a lack of a windscreen cause its a naked bike. so you basically pay for a cb1000r and you ride it like it's a cb650r cause you can never open the throttle for too long (nor do you want to). surprised theyre coming out with a new variant this year, they made it super cheap so people can reach to it... and then be dissapointed.

Other moto channels must take note. Also this model is not the last version, you have to see the 2021 refreshed model with updated dash, headlight, tail section etc. Most reviewers have not bothered to understand bikes from a technically competent and design perspective and instead fall for marketing hype. This is a gentleman’s ride targeted at discerning customers who value high build quality over hp and good design lines along with an excellent powerplant. The latest Hornet 1000SP is basically the same power output but with edgy styling and parts bin bike put together with cb500f and cb650r parts therefore its cheaper. Yet moto channels seem to mistake edgy styling for being a hyper naked. All components on this CB1000R instead are bespoke premium and custom designed by Honda for this model. I own the 2022 model and would not sell it because nothing in the current market is quite the same quality targeted at matured customers who dont want awkward trendy styling, loud stickers, and plastic parts etc. As a bonus it’s a great daily ride, you can ride narrow European streets all day on the second gear amidst tight office traffic like a scooter! Calm and sublime 1000cc built like an automatic swiss watch.

You don't need more than 150hp, anything over 100hp is more than enough. I have a 2022 Pan America, with a V&H slip on muffler, and when it gets above 5000rpm, it is a beast, I'm a hoon at heart, been riding 45 years on road, the Pan Am has ridiculous power.
@HartyBiker3 күн бұрын
Exactly. I have a first gen mt09, and my brother has a gixxer 1000. He's got like 75hp on me, but somehow we end up always riding at the same speed. The only time you can really use that extra power is on the track or above 200km/h which you don't tend to do much on public roads anyway, at least not with kangaroos and pedestrians and other wildlife around.

Even if I have a z900rs and a z900rs se in the garage, I could add this to my naked collection too, like the looks

man i love the CBs. learned on my pops CB750. my first new bike was a 919, and then had the cb1000r. everything ya said is true. great somewhat overlooked naked streetfighter. i ride everyday and this bike handled everything just fine. i miss mine.

I had the 900rr it was great but light weight and I can feel the wind on the Mackinaw Bridge trying to blow me off. But I was not going too fast because of traffic and it was a long not so fun ride over the bridge.

It’s a great bike. The whole “no torque” thing was bullshit. I hope the new Hornet 1000 is as good. Got an eye on that one next year.

I purchased the exact same bike new in 2019 and had the dealer install the auto shifter. It was an option as a factory accessory. I paused the video at 10.38 and I could swear this is equipped with an auto shifter.

As for the suspensions, I had to adjust mine to my 200 lb weight and it got much much better. I am surprised people never bother to customize the suspension travel to their weight.
@spitescorner3 күн бұрын
I would if it was adjustable, but this is preload only
@smith81242 күн бұрын
@@spitescorner * preload and rebound, no compression adjustment. The shock is trash and and specd wayyy below the rest of the quality components. Replace it with an Ohlins and it totally changes the bike 🤙🏻

Like most modern naked and other bikes, I feel like that’s its weakest link. The fact that it doesn’t have a finished rear end, I hate that bobtail look; then again I’m an old geezer. That’s why I love my Hornet.

I loved my 2018 CB1000R as it’s not designed to be a super naked! At approximately 25% more power than the MT-09 (without the looks only a mother could love) it’s a surprisingly capable machine. I already have the new and improved CB1000 Hornet SP on order and can’t wait as it adds a bit more spice without trying to be a super naked. The fit and finish of the new one might be down when compared to the neo sports. But, so is the price for what should ultimately be a better riders bike. From the brakes, engine, rear shock and going with a 180 section rear tyre. Smart move Honda as it will feel lighter between corners compared to a 190 or 200 rear. Just like it’s now baby brother, the 750 with its 160.

I wish this came out before I bought my Yamaha XSR900, it was down between the XSR900 and CB1000R and everyone talked bad including you and Yammienoob but I loved the look and the sound. Frustrating to realize I should have just gone with my gut choice... I'll see if maybe I'll trade it for a CB1000R in the future, I prefer 4 cylinders over 2 or 3. Videos didn't get me to decide though the fact that the XSR900 is backed by yamaha quality did but I would have gone with a CB1000R with a better thorough review.

This bike is a great example of the diminishing returns on going for power. Alongside a comparison with the MT10 you should also compare it to the gsxs1000. If you can find one near you, of course.

Lowest hp in class means LOWER INSURANCE PRICES people. It’s why the 1000r or even the 650r will be my forever bike one day. Spite, I would love to see a 650r comparison vid. Really interested to see your thoughts. Esp now that the e clutch is a thing. More useable daily-ability. But is the power worth it..?
@jamesbruce87493 күн бұрын
I know the future retro look is appealing but I'd wait for the new Hornet 1000 to land in dealers before I bought one. Hornet has a new chassis and a detuned 150 bhp engine from the 2017 Firebird. Incredible parts like Brembo brakes and fully adjustable Showa suspension, supposable all at a fantastic price when it hits those dealers. Although I really do like the way this one looks compared to the New Hornet, it looks like every other modern street fighter that being good or bad depending on you.
