A run through of some of the differences and similarities between these two libraries from Spitfire Audio. Both are ideal for ambient, underscore, cinematic music.

Two of the most beautiful string libraries ever created. As you say, not for epic cinematic scores, although they certainly can add some subtlety or used for softer passages, these shine for more softer, romantic or documentary applications. Listen carefully to some of the music from the show "The Crown" and you will hear both of these libraries.

Very cool, I didn't know that! Yes, I love them both, though I am finding that NEO in particular is the probably the most versatile Albion since ONE was released. Thanks for watching! Cheers!

Thanks for watching! Yeah, I think Tundra is still my favourite. But I’ve been using the Brunel loops from Neo a lot these days as well. Can’t go wrong with either one!

Hi!! Thank you for doing this. My problem still is that I only have the budget for one of these two. Which of these is better as a standalone library? I don’t have any of the other Albions. This will be my first major purchase and I can sense that my musical proclivity is somewhere within these two. I hope you can help me make the decision!

Thanks for watching! It really depends on what style of music you want to make. Best all in one is Albion One which covers a little bit of everything. But if you are looking for something a bit quieter and less “epic”, I would go with Tundra. I think it’s still my favourite. I’m sure one day I will just end up owning all of them, but yeah, it’s a whole lot of money!

@@DanTremblayMusic Thanks, Dan! I don’t write epic stuff as much. I got the Originals Epic Strings and Cinematic/Epic percussion just in case. The only thing remaining is something intimate and quiet to stand out and not sound like everybody else. I do quiet, orchestral music laced with pianos, woodwinds etc.

I think sometimes Paul does these a disservice by always playing chords with them. When I listened to the official Neo review I thought the brass sounded quite synthy, but listening to you playing it monophonically I actually find it sounds hauntingly beautiful.

Wow! Thank you! Most of the time the stuff I’m doing is maybe less on the orchestral side, so I love a lot of the pads and things that have been mangled and processed.

@@DanTremblayMusic I will say tundras are unique enough that I could use them for underscoring and mellow mock ups. Refs better then Albion ones but also different then Albion ones general purpose brass.

I think if you want big broad strokes, Albion one does that, and iceni probably even more so. I think the key with Albion brass, aside from One, is that it is meant to be used in a less traditional sense.
