I must say out of the thousands and thousands of video's I've watched, This is definitely one of the most useful. To many people jumping on KZbin and doing videos that are crap. Watching this video can save people a lot of money. Long story short, this is a great video.

Or 35 degrees 😁 I have the same setup but a 1-6 Primary Arms SFP ACSS. Only thing I dont like is the eye box on my 1-6. It's not good. I've been thinking about getting the new Spitfire HD Gen II 5x Prism and keeping my Arisaka Denfense 35/45 degree offset mount with red dot. Only question is, how good is the eye relief and eye box on the new Gen II 5x 🤔

@@kennygp2004 @VortexOptics count me down for these questions as well. My 1-6 FFP eye box sucks at 5-6. Add to that it's 31ozs with mount and rings (.308 rated) and yea. How forgiving is the 5x prism....i got that stimmy money to burn on 3 gun stuffs

Would the 5X with a min red dot on top be suitable for a SIG spear LT 11.5" 7.62 with 7.5" suppressor? does it need low mounted to use the top red dot without having to aim extra high? Talking tactical range / all around fun gun that can also hunt to about 250 yards.

IMO the WORST feature of a magnifier is that you have to take a hand off the rifle to move it. I prefer a top mounted magnified prism scope with an offset red dot. That way a quick easy twist of the rifle gives you a choice -- AND you have a "back-up sight" built in: your "backup-sight" is the one that's still working.

Can you mount the prism scopes if your weapon has front and rear iron sights?
@VortexOpticsUSA
@VortexOpticsUSA 2 жыл бұрын
You would more than likely need to remove your rear iron sight in order to get the proper eye relief.
@unkulwilly

gonna say no. the prisms have very short eye relief so placing one in front of a flip up rear site would put it too far forward.

How about a red dot straight up on the top rail and a 3x prism on the offset mount? This way the rifle is more ambidextrous for CQB use where shoulder transition is involved.
@VortexOpticsUSA
@VortexOpticsUSA 3 жыл бұрын
Where you may run into troubles with that setup is the prism scope will be subject to eye relief. Depending on where you have it mounted and where your head is at you may struggle to get into the window when quickly tilting the rifle to a 45 to use it. The red dot is not subject to eye relief which is why it is more beneficial on an offset.

if you have the 3x and need to use it for cqb like a red dot. Wouldn't you just block the sight so you're not looking at a magnified view and instead just learn to see through the "black" and still have a crisp sight picture?

@BuddhaDog93 3 жыл бұрын

@Nunez87
@Nunez87 3 жыл бұрын
@@BuddhaDog93 Well just like you would with a red dot on a day so bright you can hardly see the dot without turning it up so bright it hurts your eyes. You shut the front hatch so it's essentially blocked. But with both eyes open you still see the dot where you hit. Same can be done with a 3x maybe even 5, because you just miss out on the magnified view (being black) the reticle will still be sharp as always until you get too close to focus. That's my thought at least.

@@Nunez87 Occluded Eye Gun Sight -- that is correct -- was part of the original thought behind the ACOG. The Armson OEG was an early sight used some by US special forces on M16 you literally could not see through the gunsight, but if you looked at it with both eyes open your brain super imposed the dot on the image you saw through your "non-occluded" eye.

Can you use a magnifier with the x5 Gen II?
@VortexOpticsUSA
@VortexOpticsUSA 2 жыл бұрын
Good question - no, you can not. Because the Spitfire HD Gen II is a prism optic and not a red dot it is not compatible with magnifiers.
@rich1958
@rich1958 2 жыл бұрын
I wish manufacturers would base their R&D on the average shooter. With ARs I would bet 90% shoot at 100 yds or less most of the time. Most areas in the country don’t have long range shooting options. I am so sick of hearing how people are shooting 300-500 yds with a red dot. I call BS for 99%. I can barely see a 1/2 ipsc target at 100% but supposedly people have such good vision they can see targets at 500. Good luck with that. Also stop making reticles so small they become useless. Similar to above, base on 100 yds maybe to 200-300 and leave at that. The few that shoot longer are using scopes and not red dot or prism optics

@@VortexOpticsUSA What's the largest difference between 3x and 5x magnification? Is one better for CQB than mid-range?
@VortexOpticsUSA
@VortexOpticsUSA 3 жыл бұрын
@@zadokofasher1159 It really comes down to application and personal preference. For CQB the 5x might actually have the advantage as it has the ability to accept a red dot on top. This will make it perfect for those close situations using the red dot, and the 5x magnification in the prism scope will help you reach out.
