Repairing a splash shield in a Honda Fit.
This is an easy job once you have all the rivets and screws to mount the splash shield back up.
All you will need is a Phillips screwdriver.
The push pin screws are 91514-TG1-T01.
I used a Husky Contractor Bag to lie on so that I wouldn’t get dirty. You could also use a large piece of cardboard.

You know, been working on cars whole life, looked at many hundreds of shadetree mechanics videos for various repairs, but I have to tell you, the way you edit the videos (that genius slo-mo part), and your smooth, calm and cadenced demeanor, made watching this video a distinct pleasure so thank you. We had same on 17 Fit. Easy fix but scary when it falls off.

Thank you!!😊 I tackle these jobs after I do a lot of research watching other videos. I notice that most videos, miss the details. That’s my goal is to show as many closeups and give as much information so that I can help others. 😁

Had a huge reply ready and BAM phone died and lost a masterful comment dammit lol. Long story short, having had her 2017 Fit up on rack right now to get eyes on myself, am glad showed up with extra 91514-TG1-T01 push pins, because even though we replaced the two missing in fender well, underneath are at least two more and wonder of wonders, both gone. FYI Fit owners, that whole thing gets detached and lowered out of way, *every time oil is changed". So po'd rn. NONE of the screws were installed, retainer clip/nuts were missing. And my wife is dragging a splash guard all over LA freeways, and I'm at home 30 miles away and can't do SH. Yeah we gonna talk JIFFYLUBE WANNABES ANYWAYS, for all y'alls Honda owners, this is the big push pin clip that has two visible inside wheel well, no jack required, and two underneath. Total of 6. 91514-TG1-T01 FYI though, Autozone has 3 in the little box in the Dorman section, it says "Honda" on package and is fattest one they have for Honda. About 3/8" thick. AND, you can get a 10 pack of screws with retainer nuts on Amazon, 11 bucks. Use this PN for screws. 90114-SE0-000 Easy peasy, will keep a stash of these handy for *all* the cars, just a standard truss screw. Takes a village lol. Btw UPC on screws is 786552914612, that's from the Amazon page. Brand OAUTOO

This was very helpful. Thank you. If you get an oil change the techs will most likely cut the zipties and not replace them. I've been dealing with this for some time.
@Handywoman
@Handywoman 8 ай бұрын
I never thought of that. I keep the zip ties in my glove compartment. I just got an oil change from jiffy lube and they don’t need to take the splash shield off when changing the oil.

Oh my gosh this video was so clear and well done! Its everything you want in a good how-to video. You really take your time with the camera and you don't rush through edits. And such manual dexterity with one hand! Thanks a bunch. Some bozo technician in the past just completely failed to re-install my cover (who knows precisely when) and so I'm having to reinstall it. Thanks again for such a good video.

From 5:05 onward you show how you use cable ties for the last remaining two holes. However, the same rivets go in these positions as you use in the wheel wells (at 2:30 and beyond).
@Handywoman
@Handywoman 4 ай бұрын
Ok I didn’t know that. Thanks I was being lazy.
@windmill1965
@windmill1965 4 ай бұрын
@@Handywoman No problem, you can replace that with the next oil change. To drain the engine oil you'll have to remove the splash shield. Thus you'll have to cut those cable ties. That will be a good opportunity to install those rivets (which are reusable).

Plastic rivets also come in big sampler boxes (well, lunchbox-sized, but with maybe a dozen each of a dozen types and sizes) for not much money. If you think you might need to do a lot of repairs or just find them handy for other uses, it's a lot cheaper. Older ones routinely break when you try to remove them, even if you have rivet removal tools, so they often need replacing if you do much work on the car. In a real pinch, you can often use a toggle bolt and a washer to replace almost any rivet, too.

You said you only used #2 and #4 but then there’s a black piece that you showed putting the #4 into do I need that black piece?
@Handywoman
@Handywoman 6 ай бұрын
Yes, they are called “clip nuts” they are rectangular and black. I bought the box that has different sizes. I used the #10 in the box that is labeled -1/4 clip nut U type assortment. It is a clip that slides on the plastic and has threads in it to help the screw go in. The screw gets screwed into it. I didn’t need mine because my clip nut was still in place. I recommend getting them just in case you need them. You can always return it, if you don’t use them. They fit the box - #10 trim screw assortment chrome.
