Through a Famitsu interview, the Mem Cakes are Agent 8’s thoughts. Some are based on experience or memory, and others are what Agent 8 imagines Inkopolis looks like, which is inspired by an Inkoplois magazine seen in the metro. The ones that Agent 8 hasn’t experienced before, but still have Mem Cakes for, are stuff they imagine from the magazine. That’s why the Marina Mem Cake is a memory. They don’t know each other personally, but she was a well-known famous elite Octarian Engineer.

15:30 CHUGGA MY BOY Literally in Baltimore, parking garages give you for a ticket when you come in, and you scan the ticket when you leave and that's how they time you and when they charge you. No stupid app business, just get ticket that has your entry time and you scan the barcode at the exit gates. so easy! The whole parking app bs really butters my biscuits, but not in a good way.

Over here in portugal, there's a bit of both. Small, dedicated parking lots have tickets, but parking spots on streets have an app (instead of having to pay at one of those machines) I think it's best of both worlds because fiddling with change for parking is UUUGH

When I visited Myrtle Beach, there was a series of parking lots that all used the same app to park in them. Not even garages, just concrete spaces out in the sun, a 5 minute walk from the beach. It was impossible to park in them without the specific app, and the service out there was shifty at best, so most of the spaces were empty.

I work in a parking garage. I actually take card or cash from the booth, answer questions, etc. We have a focus on customer service where I work, though, so we just do things differently. Other places in Houston you usually get the same ticket when you arrive and scan it and pay when you leave. No stupid apps, unless you're doing metered parking?

Fun fact about G08 Freakazoid Station: The dialogue will differ on Captain Cuttlefish depending on which weapon you choose. As seen in the video, when choosing gootuber, Cap'n will mention stored charge and "Kids these days". But, if you choose bamboozler, Cap'n will mention charging the bamboo midair and it reminds him of his "Younger days". It's just 2 or 3 lines of differing dialogue, so it isn't major, but it's a really nice touch.

That last memcake isn't a heart or an ass, it's a stylized "S+99" the highest rank you could get in Splatoon 1. It's actually kind of a weird bit of trivia as it's still in Splatoon 2 even though you could only get to S+50. Even when they got rid of S+10 and beyond, turning them into Rank X, including a new bit of graffiti that's a stylized X, they still kept the S+99 graffiti, it even got holiday versions for splatfests. And yes Octo Expansion came out after the Rank X update, maybe the original idea was to raise the max rank before deciding to just restructue the ranking system itself. On the topic of memcakes, did you know that if you get Marina to hack the test for you you'll get a gray "hazy memcake". While it's mostly as good as the real thing the final Octo Expansion reward won't unlock if you have any. You'll need to go back and actually earn them. Just a small thing to mention this close to the end.

I'm glad you asked "who is writing the poetry?" today, since I've been wondering for a while and never remembered you mentioning it. I figured while watching through this that it must be Iso Padre's poetry, with "mem cakes" and "giving them to him to remember," or something? Upon further inspection of the poems themselves, it seems more likely that they're actually Agent 8's as it seems more in line to believe that Agent 8 has more knowledge about these things (especially with Inklings being a "so called enemy"). Splatoon Wiki also suggests the mem cakes resemble erasers because "Agent 8's memories were erased," which I think is a nice touch.

I would like to point out that Station G08 (Freakazoid Station) has entirely different dialogue depending on whether you pick the Goo Tuber or the Bamboozler. With the Goo Tuber, its Pearl and Marina teaching Cap about stored charges, which weren’t a thing in Splatoon 1 (or the Great Turf War) With the Bamboozler, it becomes Cap commending you on your skills with it, as the Bamboozler is his weapon of choice.

Now that the weapons are completly done, it's all Octo Expansion, all the time. Can't wait to see what this so far super creative expansion has in store for us still. You know, now that the entire episode is dedicated to Octo Expansion, it really puts into perspective how short these levels are. While there are still a good bit left, so many can be done in one episode that we have to be much closer to the finale than I thought. Emile spent that entire sniper duel stage ranting about technology and not talking about the stage. Can't say I can complain, it was agreat story. It reminds me of that one StephenVlog where Stephen and TRG went out to eat and everything went wrong. I still think that's my favorite vlog ever.

I think the parking garage app is very useful for regulars of businesses nearby. Employees, apartments, etc. And something you also probably didnt consider is that its likely more than one garage uses them nearby. So that dozens of garages can be interacted with on the same app to log time spent. I would much rather have government owned garages that are free for stays less than one day, towing people that stay more than 24 hours (Although I imagine towing in a parking garage can be a bitch), paying for these ugly parking towers is sadly our current option, and those ticketing booths can easily be fooled or evaded.

If all of our years of training can be out done by one kid, what's the point in continuing? Mack: Hey! Tell me, did Octavio give up when he lost the Great Turf War? Did he crawl into this hole and accept defeat? No! He began to rebuild is army and looked to specimens like us. A new generation of octolings who can fight to make a change for our future. Our past losses do not dictate who we are. Together, we will rebuild, survive, and we will win a glorious future for the Octolings! I always assumed that it was specifically Agent 8 writing the poems (though I think it's outright stated in the squid-dummy mem cake if I remember correctly). The biggest hints to this are in the B and I lines which focus on the Octarians and Story Mode respectively. Some even give out some... concerning bits of lore. One that sticks out to the the most is the Tentacle (B14) where it implies that Octoling soldiers could become those X marked limbs on bosses we see in single player (though I could be misinterpreting the poem) On a lighter note, I do enjoy many of the character-themed mem cakes. Sheldon's is actually one of the small in-game hints we have that Agent 8 enjoys hanging out with him (before the relationship chart was dropped). The rest of my favorites are actually the ones you haven't gotten in the I line yet, so I'll wait till then to say my thoughts on those.

Ink It Station was my last level and probably one of my favorite obstacle course level in Octo Expansion. The theme is so funky and fun as well!

It's a shame they don't let you put on the unlocked Octoling stuff in the story mode, because that Terminator level definitely required sunglasses for the full experience.

Whoo, crazy that this game will be 5 years old tomorrow, so soon after Splatoon 1's 7th birthday in late May. Thank you comments for reminding me. I am also reminded that September brings the third game, in addition to definitive relief from oppressive summer heat. Ah, I live for the on point, haiku reminiscent poetry of these Mem Cakes. Iso-Padre is almost too cool for this "train of souls" in the Deep Sea Metro.
