Splatoon 2 - Weird Opponent Glitch!

While trying to attempt the recently founded Port Mackerel glitch with a few other companions, I ended up being surprised with this strange match of events. It seemed like my opponents had some switch up in cases of wearing the enemy's team colour. It's a bit complicated to explain. Either way, I hope you enjoy this weird video! I wanted to switch up the editing style as well to suit an event like this. I felt like my usual editing strategy wouldn't match the content I have on here. I remember something similar to this happening in splatoon 1 to some people They got in a normal turf war match, the stages were Kelp Dome and Moray Towers Except some guy got placed in Kelp while the rest were on Moray, everyone was flying everywhere from his POV

Bryan's Adventures wait- local play!? I can explain this using packet loss and crappy Internet logic, but if this is actually a consistent, reproducible glitch that doesn't depend on your connection quality, it's much, MUCH more interesting.

Intensive play sessions? Overheating Switch? Crappy network, broken console hardware, damaged game cartridge, bad download... ...Or a programming fault? I kinda want it to be the latter, because then we could understand more about the game internals and reliably reproduce this glitch.

That glitch is so weird, it reminds me of the multi track glitch on Mario Kart 7 and Mario kart wii (when you play a worldwide race on a track while some other people are on an other track so they literally go anywhere in the map

we had another guy that kept disconnecting the pb, but when I made a new room I was able to start the pb before he joined.

John W Looks like a bad connection caused a bit of a byte packet corruption, causing the "team ID" byte to incorrectly get switched for one or more of the consoles. The Splatoon 2 online play host relies too much on client-side behavior, just like the original. This explains the hitting your own teammates, because, say, one player's game sends "This player splatted that player", the other games simply trust that copy's logic and accept it. So, if the copy is misbehaving, other games will happily display said misbehavior. This means you could theoretically cheat in online matches once a Switch kernel hack is finally out.

What I think is going on is the game is overheating, and because of that, the game overflows to do things, such as start the match, end the match, ready pressed, and because of that, the system overflows, causing the game to confuse the matchups, when this happens, the color matchmaking also gets confused, and when this is happening, the overheating console / game confuses your teammate with the other, allowing your teaming to be a different color, making this glitch possible, it's been 11 months, I'm sure this glitch was patched.

well that is... game breakingly interesting! Is this glitch explainable? Maybe your game had some sort of internet glitch and couldn't correctly download the info of who is in which team, since you were the only one who saw that something is wrong... I wasn't able to mention this in the video but we had this other player that kept disconnecting the match a few times. Once I made a new pb, I was able to start it quickly before he joined just to make sure if it was him who kept disconnecting the matches.

YT McPlayz here's my idea. He joined EXACTLY when you said ready so you went into the team choosing. The game doesn't know where to put him since he joined when they can't add players. So they put him in the game but since it's already loaded, they can't put his name. Fast forward to the game starting but since there are actually 4 players bc of the glitched guy, they have to put 2 players per team. Hence the game confused and they didn't know where to put your opponent/team mate. (I think this is actually pretty accurate.) EDIT: I need to correct myself. This is a bigger bug than just perfect timing. Why did it only happen to you and no one else? THE WORLD WILL NEVER KNOW.

Wait if Esky saw him super-jumper to the spawn normally, but you, you saw him hitting the spawn shield, doesn't it desynchronisate players ? Because if he see him near the spawn, but you see him IN the spawn, if for example he walk a little bit on the right, he will see him at a distance from the spawn, but you will se him at another distance from the spawn Sorry for my english^^

Tizetre ToaxToas The game notices the position difference and tries to teleport the misplaced squids before a desync can occur. It happens over and over though, because they continue to hit the spawn barrier, over and over.
