The fact that Quin is enjoying so much this game without even have played online is actually insane. But I have to give you a warning : online has a very hard and addictive rank system (that you don't have to play on but that is way more competitively viable than the normal online mode). So once you get into trying to rank up in this game, well it's hard to stop grinding.

Oh hell yeah, this game is great. The story might be confusing since, you know, third game in the series, but it's a great time. Basic summary, if you care about spoilers for the first two games and Octo Expansion then ignore this lol. In all though, fun games and Octo Expansion can be actually pretty hard: The world is a post apocalyptic earth where sea levels rose and squids and octopi became the dominant species. There was a war between the octos and squids where Cuttlefish and DJ Octavio were the opposing generals. In their later years though, they just don't get along. Years later, Cuttlefish's granddaughters became idols (Agents 1 and 2, or Callie and Marie). The Great Zapfish (a species that powers most cities' power grids) was stolen by Octavio in the past two games and each time a new agent was recruited into the New Squidbeak Splatoon. The captain was the protagonist of the first game (The original Agent 3). Each time though they beat Octavio with the power of music, the Squid Sisters' legendary Calamari Inkantation. It basically undoes mind control and forced Octavio to groove too hard that he got distracted. There was also Octo Expansion in the second game which had Pearl and Marina (The idols for that game) help an Octoling out of the sewers and into Squid society after defeating a doomsday computer left behind by the humans. Cuttlefish helps too since he wasn't really around for the second game's campaign, getting stuck underground with Agent 8 (The player character for Octo Expansion). The plot for the main campaign was to that was Callie getting squidnapped along with the Great Zapfish and Marie recruiting you to save them. A final thing that doesn't play too much in the story is the Salmon Run mode that's led by Mr. Grizz. You never really see him but he has business dealings with Octavio where he sells Octavio Salmon Eggs to power his machines and Octo Society underground. In the game though it's just a horde mode. I think that's about it. It's bare bones but it gets you up to speed.

YES Today is the day that Quin FINALLY plays my second favorite game (first being botw lol) Edit: Some advice, turn you motion sensitivity up to the MAX. It's straight up better since you don't have to move your arms to France and back just to aim. Sticks are just worse since aim-assist doesn't exist, it's so hard to be precise with aim that way.

So, I figured I'd just give a few little notes and/or tips. 1. I would definitely recommend attempting to get used to motion controls, as if/when you do it feels better than regular stick controls. It definitely takes a bit of effort to get used to it, but the sooner you try them out the easier it will be(as an example, I ended up playing the first game exclusively with stick controls and it made the switch to motion so awkward that I had to wait until the second game to try it). 2. A fun little fact is that story-wise, the character in the middle at 4:27 is actually the player-character from the first game. 3. Without giving any major spoilers(which I'd highly recommend you avoid), the finale of the story mode is absolutely insane in the best way possible, and is 100% worth playing the story for(although the rest of the story is great in it's own right)

Glad you like the game this far, I bought it first day and it's so much fun! If you want to catch up with the story of Splatoon 1 and 2 and the lore, you have two choices. Play them (+Octo Expansion), OR Watch a video about it, and if you do, I recommend: "Splatoon Series Explained (in 14 minutes)" I do think the game is enjoyable without knowing everything about the previous games and the lore, but I think you would enjoy it more that way.

I recommend you putting the motion control back on, it may feel weird but you’ll get used to it. It will help you in later story mode levels and also in multiplayer games because you can aim better and turn around faster.

Though "Agent 1" and "Agent 2" are the only other ones you may recognize, if you've seen random footage over the years. Another Fun Fact: The series has actually aged along with us. For example, the original "Agent 3", our player character from the 1st game, is 7 years older now. (Splatoon 1 was released in 2015.)

you’re the one new splatoon player i can watch ngl, i know it sounds selfish of me but i always feel so “bleh” watching new splatoon players come in and play. i love hearing that they love the game, heading that they wanna do better and watching them do better, but because i’m a splatoon “veteran” since splatoon 1, i feel biased. quin, however, i’ve always loved watching play games, late or not. he’s a lovable dude, what can i say? i’m glad you’re getting your first taste of splatoon! if you can, try playing splatoon 1 and 2 a bit so you can get a feel of the game and its evolution-maybe even, if you’re interested, to learn more of the lore bit by bit. :)) there’s a LOT of lore in splatoon 2’s octo expansion.

Man you are actually insane for a new player, even with stick controls. But may I recommend you use motion controls. It feels weird at the start, can’t deny that but when you get used to it it’s way easier to aim and flick to hit enemies.
