Mr. Grizz is, in my opinion, one of the more sympathetic villains in Splatoon. Imagine being in hibernation for 12,000 years and when you wake up, everyone and everything on the ship you inhabited is dead except you and there is no longer a single creature like you in the entire world. Not great, but certainly more akin to Octavio stealing the Zapfish to help his people rather than Tartar practically killing all living things just because their society didn't meet their expectations.

We can sympathize with Grizz because we can imagine the feeling of being completely alone, we can empathize with Octavio because he only wants to help his people, and Tartar only knows genocide. That's my best accurate summary of the splatoon bosses.

I agree wholeheartedly, I think we've all had a feeling of being alone at some point or another, just that crushing weight that Mr. Grizz must have felt, and the fear too. I also agree with the Octavia fact. He's very much so "the ends justify the means." And yes he probably could have done it better but he was honestly trying to help his people. Does that justify stealing the zapfish? Twice? No. But its at least understandable. Screw the phone that's just like "welp time to kill everyone."

The lore is SO gripping and full of dread. Of course we've known that human essentially went extinct, but slowly learning about their demise, that generations of humans lived underground until the cavern crumbled in on itself thanks to the ignorance of newer generations, and a space shuttle with earth's last survivors drifted in space for 10,000 years until it came crashing back down on earth, it's pretty terrifying to think about. It's one of my favorite things about Splatoon story mode, the lore is so unexpectedly unsettling in every way, and it's all hidden under a bright and colorful Nintendo game.

If your wondering why the octarians have the giant TV screens is because after the great turf war the octarians were shoved into underground domes that the humans created during the apocalypse (It’s also why the splatoon 1 and 2 story mode takes place in valleys / canyons)

the octarians were pushed underground into caverns constructed after the war but the walls were not covered in tvs like we see in the games when they covered the walls the power consumption was to high for the octarians to keep up with so they stole the zapfish to power the bunkers and in the two years between one and two we can see that some tvs were falling off the walls and even into the water so they stole the zapfish so they had power to work with while rebuilding, then when the zapfish is gone again they replace the giant tvs with giant crt tvs to save on power so which we see before falling into alterna in 3 i dont have a source im just making a basic theory based on plot points we have. dont quote me on this we also see parts of the flood sitting at the bottom of the domes

Callies response of “Plenty! But dont worry about that” is killing me. And because its CALLIE saying that, its like her admitting to “yea im jealous of Marie and yea i was brainwashed into almost killing her but this isn't splatoon 2 so we’re not gonna talk about it”. It’s like the game had told me she named them and that info was just there in my brain, but the game never said she did. I really want them to make a story mode that resembles the story of the Splatoon Coroika manga. Something like your character entering a big turf war tournament and their story on how they met their teammates, cool side quests, meeting important characters, fighting through the tournament against teams with cool characters leading them, and finally winning the tournament against the top team. Sounds a bit cliché, but I think if it's done well it could be really good and fun, and would fit in the Splatoon world, not having to save the world, just a simple tournament. Like the story of the Splatoon manga, emphasizing character interactions and personalities.

I've played splatoon for 7 years. It holds a special place in my heart and mind that no series will ever be able to replace. To see the story mode be so good is a treat I adore. Octo Expansion was a work of art, but Alterna is a masterpiece that takes the best parts of previous games and octo expansion, molds them into one, and manages to improve on that combination. I don't know how they did it. Maybe it's because it seemed like this game (and the series) was so fun to make; just letting loose, letting the people who like worldbuilding build a world, letting people add their characters into that world, and giving it to the world. You have a standard to live up to, yes, and splatoon has checked every box in my eyes. What an amazing trilogy. The Squidbeak Splatoon saga has ended, and I'm excited to see what comes next. the dlc where we get to see pearl and marina's wedding will also be fun though please nintendo give me my lesbian queens

As an IT srudent, the liquid crystal that "reads minds" is used in monitors irl, it's just a liquid that is able to polaryze the light in a certain way that makes it possible for us to see what's on the screen. I had been keeping away from Splatoon 3 content until I completed the main story myself. But here’s an interesting tidbit: Mr. Grizz returned to Earth around the same time Judd was released from Cryo-sleep by the Inklings. Presumably the Professor who originally owned Judd willing kept him on Earth, possibly with Tartar, to live a better life. It’s slightly sad then, that Mr. Grizz never actually encountered Judd, considering the guy _literally has a base of operations immediately next to where Judd sits in Splatoon 2._ Like bruh.
