Splatoon really is an impressive series with how much lore it holds, especially with how simple of a game (haha funny squid shoot ink) it first seems. Nintendo needs more credit on how well they’ve constructed the world of Splatoon. Nice work on the video by the way. Edit: yes, Springfest Square is one of the best, although in my opinion Splatocalypse was similarly amazing.

Marie's umbrella was bought at as a prop, so I imagine that the outfit with Kensa's crest is a costume that happened to have it. It's very likely that the Squid Sister's and Off the Hook's outfits are made by Kensa, which would make Kensa the artist who graduated from Inkblot Art Academy (allegedly) with a thesis on large zippers. Thoughts.

Rockenberg is based on punk and rock fashion, the boots are modeled after doc martens, which is backed up by "lasts a lifetime" as docs are known to last a long time

What's interesting to note about Foil's weapons is how they're all multi-purpose. Squeezer has two separate firing modes, for combat and painting. Flingza Roller has a normal horizontal flick but a huge vertical flick for movement and attacking. Baller can be used for offense and defense, and so can Bubble Blower.

...Actually, I think there's something interesting to note about Dolphin's weapons: They all appear _low quality._ The L3 seems to be a slightly modified water hose, rolled up into the gun's "cylinder" and the _Squiffer_ is _literally_ a inkling-version swiffer spray bottle _duct taped together_ with other plastic bits to turn it into a charger. I'd say that's actually a facinating characteristic. While all these other brands, even when their guns look like toys, still have their guns look factory assembled, Dolphin's guns feel _slipshod_ in comparision.

Just came up with this headcanon that people in the Splatoon universe tried to make a petition to change the SquidForce name to SplatForce and to replace the second squid in the logo to an octo to make it more "inclusive" for Octolings since they also do Ink battles. Also the Dolphin logo looks like it says "Puke"

Enperry Head Cannon: Enperry Sided with Pearl before off the hook was created, and she was a fashion model. And since Enperry has a royal vibe to it, pearl's signature look when she was a model consist of a crown, thus why she wears one now. Edit: just red the pinned comment...

YAY brand video!! you p much covered it all! glad you referenced my toni kensa interview translation :] I have a few more tidbits to add here! more lore for your favorite brand: A lot of graffiti artists have their roots in Snapper Canal, and the guy who made firefin (or at least the logo) is one of them. Way back when at the time of the brand's conception, most graffiti artists would draw these big pieces, but the firefin guy would just draw this tiny little pufferfish character, and it was a hit! (from the graffiti artist interview in haikara walker) while its pretty apt to compare takoroka to nike, tentatek is the literal nike brand! the Sesame Salt 270s are designed and named after the Nike Air Max 270 shoes, and the Sea Slug Volt 95s are designed and named after the Nike Air Max 95 shoes, both of which were what the japanese nike-sponsored splatfest, new model vs popular model, was centered around. maybe takoroka is more like adidas? i remember reading on some japanese wiki page that nouveau brand makes art supplies and neo brand also makes household appliances, could be speculation but it seems to check out! the name for neo brand appears to read ツカオ電気 (tsukao electric), tsukao doesnt mean anything, but switch around the letters to カツオ (katsuo), which means bonito, and we got ourselves another fish/food name. Something you didnt mention about "fizzy"; their logo appears on the vending machines in Splatoon 2, so theyre probably another soda company like the "vending machine" brand?

I wouldn't characterize Nouveau the way you did. The French name + the fact that the sell brushes and pens means they're a brand that repurposes art supplies for combat. The Tri-Slosher is an bucket intended for cleaning brushes, as the Japanese name implies. The Dapple Dualies are a reference to a common technique for dappling, where you put ink on a toothbrush and flick it to make spots.

I wish you had mentioned that Toni Kensa is a tribute/parody of Uniqlo, right down to the logo shape and the red clothespins on the TK brand weapons. It's kind of weird that Zekko is aimed towards "surfer" crowds in a world with Inklings who can't swim, although we've seen the jellyfish people swim and it's not clear whether or not water is bad for non Squids/Octos Like Sheldon, Crusty Sean, Spike, etc.

Still relatively new to Splatoon, but currently my favorite brands are Annaki and Rokenburg. Headgear ranges from Annaki or Octoking facemask to various headphones, Black Inky Rider Jacket, and Punk Blacks Boots, giving myself/my character a biker punk style. Which is what style I'm trying to go for irl now!
