The main issue I have with what you are saying about just getting better and not being carried, is that Ranked matches are a TEAM effort and if your team all act like dipshits the entire time instead of a unit, that isn't being carried to want them to play as a team and or back you up. I have had many many matches where the team just dicked around in the last crucial moments of a match and we lost because they didn't continue to push till victory. S+ play doesn't mean you should effortlessly be able to 1v4 every match like an absolute monster, your team is still a very important factor.

+Heartgold93 And I don't as most of the people I usually end up paired with don't understand the importance of having turf covered even if it isn't turf war. Literally 90% of my teammates most of the time focus on the tower in tower control over getting a good bit of turf covered when we're losing in that department, leaving me, a lone sniper, to be covering the turf for them. At times though I may get a team that either bodies the enemies or at least are able to put in a good performance, though more often than not I nab partners that don't perform well or even decent and my rank has been in fluctuation on B- since, nearly going back down to C+ at some points. I know I'm relatively new to this (am just under a month of playing) and am only level 18 or so, but if I understand one of the basic features of the game and its importance in competitive play, and my performance is greater than that of people twice my level, it speaks zounds on how imbalanced the competitive system of the game is, especially since you'd think the people in their 30s+ would at least be decently competent players since ranked is the only real viable way of leveling aside of just playing regular turf wars religiously for a good number of months.
@squidsofty85079 жыл бұрын
+Kanethedragon Well, life as a Charger main (like me) is hard, because I also run into those same problems as well. I've had the game since it came out and I'm at S (somehow). Really, just that you have more of a reason to blame your team because your a support weapon and your team can't get mad at you for NOT going out in the open to get spatted because, let's face it, no charger, not even DUDE, can just go out there and defeat 4 S/S+ players while they are in control.

What? The "going in by himself" thing? That's because he is very aware of his surroundings.
@Luxin_Xeno9 жыл бұрын
As someone who recently dropped out of competitive play temporarily to reach S, I found myself coming to many of the same conclusions by applying my competitive knowledge to the solo queue scenario. I've also got a few more tips in addition to the ones in the video that, while they can't really help you win more, can stop you from huge losing streaks that drop you back at A- when you were almost S an hour ago. -Know your limits: It's simple, you play worse when tired. I go on knowing I only have a certain number of matches at max alertness and skill level, and when I start to see my KDs deteriorate and notice that I'm dying to stupid things more and more often, I know when to stop where I am. It's not that I don't know what to do in situation X any more, it's just that my brain can't keep up with the action and doesn't let me react in time. Also, it might do good to take a short break after a particularly hard or high-stakes match to allow yourself to calm down and your hands to stop shaking if they are. -If you lose more than 3 or 4 times in a row, cut your losses and stop. While the game does pair you with better or worse players depending on your win streak, it is highly unlikely that it will screw you over so many times in a row unless you went from C to S in one rotation or something. If you consistently lose regardless of who's on your team, it is your fault and your fault alone, and you need to step back and analyze what you are doing wrong if you want to stop losing. -Never assume that a given match is going to be a loss just when it begins. We're at a point where rank and level aren't a tell-all for someone's skill, and just because you have three Bs against an A+ and S team doesn't mean you will lose. I made it into A+ on a 3v4 (and have a pic to prove it so don't argue with me on this), and when I saw that a teammate had dced, I just went "fuck it, I'll go ham and if I lose, it can't be a result of anything I could've done," and it payed off. I know it sounds corny, but having a positive attitude can really help in tough matches.

It's just whenever I tried to improve, I take 2 steps back since I am a Brush main you see. I went from commonly use Analog that I use to Motion and try to get better K/D as well as protecting my teammates better if I can kill the opposing team before they kill one of mine but that didn't help either cause I have trouble holding my gamepad and setting the sensitivity since Motion beats Analog every time long and close range combat. I've been trying my hardest to get S+ (I'm S 24 you see) but I feel it's hard to approach players on certain maps on certain modes, I know we come across in Duo Squad like 2 times I believe and only once in Quad Squad and you can tell I have trouble approaching.

Don't just main a one single thing. If you want to get into the competitive side of a game or two, always pick a secondary, because chances are that your go-to main has a massive hard counter, and you'll need a secondary to counter the counter.

+BluRacer7 As a fellow player trying to get S+ (Surprisingly I'm S 47 at the moment,I think),I'm not sure how helpful I can be. When the match begins and shows the teams,try to memorize what weapons your opponents are using,sometimes that tends to give away on how they will approach. Knowing how your opponents will approach can help with your own. As for your sensitivity setting and how your holding the gamepad,I'm unsure of your sitting arrangements so I can't help much there. Try to get used to holding the gamepad flat(if you haven't already). Practicing always makes perfect though. Every time I try a new setting or new weapon,I test it out in Regular Matches first until I get used to settings.

Just remember the other team has bad teammates as often as you do. Yes you can have bad teammates and lose a game because of it, but just focus on your own gameplay as over time the effect of bad teammates will balance out. Assuming you are never the worst player in the lobby your team has a 3 in 7 chance of having the worst player while the other team has a 4 in 7 chance. This means you will rank up and face better players, until you are the same skill level as everyone else. Tldr only blame your team in specific circumstances, do not say you consistently get teams that are worse than you.

I have been struggling with ranked battles for a while now. I could never seem to make it past B+ rank. And I was one of those people who refused to accept the fact that it was my own fault. Instead, I kept blaming it on "not having good team mates"....So I decided to start watching videos to get tips on how to get better at rank battles. That's how I stumbled across your channel. And I can honestly say after taking your advice, I have improved tremendously. I realized my problem was that I wasn't moving around the map enough. I wasn't doing little things like cutting off the enemy paths. I took your advice to constantly move around and pick the opponents off rather than wait for them to come to me. I've also taken your advice about better gear selection. Wearing gear better suited to my weapons. And how to effectively flank the opponents rather than charge right in blindly. I finally got to A- rank which has been my goal for months. And for that, I just wanted to say thank you!

Interesting summary. I try to learn from my mistakes. So when I loose more than a few games in a row (which happens more often than I am willing to admit to myself), I argue to myself: The only constant factor in these games was me and my weapon. Because everything else changed: my team, the enemies, their weapons, their adapted behavior, the map too (switches now and then). I very much like the imperatives "assess the situation first" and "do not rush blindly into enemy terrain", both of which I yet have to become better with. On the other hand, I also had sessions when I deliberately avoided to rush at all. But then I had the feeling that my team lost because no one seemed to attack at all. I once read some other how to article. And the main message there was "the most aggressive team" wins almost all the time. So, is there a balance between being aggressive and playing safe? Is it probably a balance inherent in the team (one being more aggressive, the other more defensive)? But then, ranked battle runs with random teams. So it is hard to judge from th first few seconds who is what type of player. From looking in your video I can't see whether you look around that much. So I wonder: Do you often look at the gamepad screen to check what's going on around you? Or is it just what you see on the main screen?
@ToonDoge9 жыл бұрын
First i'd like to say, this video is a perfect explanation on how to do your part in ranked i hope more players will see it!! Second, I honestly think the reason why people blame their teammates is solely due to there being ZERO. Communication between you and your comrades. Because of this whenever the enemy team has control, chances are you and everyone else on your team will end up trying to be the hero and try to get rid of as many people as possible. Or another case i've witnessed, is that your teammates might cower sort of ish when the enemy team is really pushing, even after you eventually find a way to get the enemy team to back off, they'll sort of be put into that "unsure if its safe to move in" state of mind and will want to wait for someone on their team to go in. TL;DR: In my opinion, its better to just grind your way up to A+ 99 rank in squad where you can communicate with friends, and then just solo it to S rank and hope for the best from the teammates you're paired with.

My question is should you follow your team to avoid being teamed on despite them being for example slower or acting predictable? Sometimes the whole team (yes even me) are in a bad position and end up acting poorly against the other team. I can't communicate with my team to for example try attacking in a different direction thus I try by myself and badly then the best I could hope for is a trade. Or simply my team isn't pushing in causing the other team to be able to control the stage. I attempt to make a difference only to be splatted. Occasionally, I break through and stealthily even the odds but It is extremely hard to do if I am doing it alone. This leads back to my inability to communicate with my team.

What would you say about my situation where, for rainmaker per say: When I try to play as the carrier, no one helps in escorting. When I was in A+, I was able to pretty much take it to 5/dunk by myself or with little help many times, but in S, I can't simply do that. When I try to play as a charger for support, no one carries the rainmaker (well), all rushing in to stupid areas. Similar to zones, I play as a splatterscope/other charger and no one on my team goes in while I take out the other, when I play a short range weapon, I feel like everyone else rushes into stupid areas too much and there's no support. Is this just bad luck with the synergy of my teams weapons or what? When I even just twin squad, having my 1 friend fill in that support/rush seems to help and we mostly win, so I'm not sure if it's me or not.

Hmm... but what if it seriously is bad luck with teams? I'm a Tentatek user and I've always done what you have said in this video, like making sure we have the ground covered in our ink (it should be an obvious thing to do, it gives you an incredible advantage over the opposing team as you can dodge and get around with ease, and they have little movement and their locations can be found by them trying to recover it), I've never blamed my teammates for my deaths (except for when they jump in front of my shots and get both of us killed), made sure to go on the front lines as my weapon calls for, but I still lose most rounds I do with plenty of times having the best k/d ratio on the team and several times being the one carrying the tower/rainmaker the furthest or making sure the splat zones are covered to keep the enemy occupied while a teammate flanks them. Is there something I'm missing? Because even if you were to follow these tips, you can't exactly carry a team if they don't in the least.

Another really important thing is to never act in a particularly predictable way, especially when there are snipers on the enemy team. For S and S+ players, this is fairly instinctual, but trying to move around in ways the enemy team won't anticipate will give you a huge advantage, as you won't get hit as much, giving you more time to kill your opponents.

The problem is I keep getting K/D's like 17-3 or 16-0 but I just can't control the objective very well with the splatterscope, like covering the zone and staying on the tower or carrying the rainmaker. I mostly like to stay back but sometimes my teammates have other plans. I'm stuck in A- because of this and I don't know what to do

If I lost a ranked battle but I had more splats than death or a near even ratio does that mean the team didn't do well enough as a whole? I mean in situations like that I can't figure out what I did wrong. The game even sometime take a small percentage off like it's telling me I was close or I did all I can.

The key to winning rainmaker battles is to use the rainmaker as a weapon. Everytime I play RM I try to take the rainmaker and if I'm ahead of my teammates, I'll wait for them and fire off the rainmaker until they arrive.

I usually use the Hero Charger Replica. I was quite good with it when I was still on B+, where I'd get either the best or second-best KDR on my team, although I consider that kills are just a secondary factor as opposed to taking ground, pushing forward, managing the area and doing the objective. I'm usually a B+ - A-, but I was on B+, and had a lot of frequent disconnections despite the fact that my connection is usually fine. I waited a bit, then moved stuff around that could be blocking the connection, and then I was okay, but then I lost the next ranked match and now I'm in B. It feels like hell now, and I'm not sure why.

I agree with you and now that I have reflected on why I'm losing in ranked it's usually because I'm tired, and that's when I start to blame my team mates when they are probably not doing that well either. it comes down to which team has the best synergy with each other and the general skill level of the teams. Frustration is probably my number one bane in ranked right now. And the strange match making in A- right now but that's beside the point.

ive been stuck between B and A, going up and down for the past 3 months, and i just cant go up any higher. im gonna try to be aware of my surroundings more, but ive always had a hard time reacting quickly since i was a little kid, which makes quick decisions and aiming much harder. :( when we lose i always just assume its my fault lmao. ;v; a personal tip though is just play modes you're good at ? like whenever i play rainmaker or splat zones on kelp dome i always lose, i get really frustrated and cant focus. but splat zones or tower control on arowana mall? i usually rank up when these modes and map combine. idk, it works for me.
@9thTigre9 жыл бұрын
I can't really say that kills are the most important thing. Mostly because I almost always have the highest kill count (15+) and still lose lots of battles in a row. It's important to stay focused on the task at hand, because I've had lots of matches where I'll kill everyone in an area (Splat Zones or around the tour/rainmaker) but everyone on my team will be near the enemy spawn or taking out enemies, ignoring the actual goal of the battle. Hell, I've even had a match where I was taking out opponents so my teammates could get on the tower, but when I took everyone out, I realized they were all still sitting around in the ink... -_- So yes, be aware of your surroundings, because the rainmaker might just be SITTING OUT IN THE OPEN.
@SkyWithFluffyclouds9 жыл бұрын
+9thTigre The other day playing rainmaker in port mackerel my team had pushed the rainmaker to just under the goal and the we all got killed. The enemy team got quite a headstart and had us in a deadlock in our territory but they had left the rainmaker at their base. Seeing as we were going nowhere I just decide to sneak around to their base and when I reach THEY LEFT IT UNPROTECTED RIGHT UNDER THE GOAL! That's how bad it gets sometimes about ignoring the goal. And the worst thing it's not the first time that has happened. DON'T LEAVE THE RAINMAKER WITHOUT A BUBBLE IN YOUR TERRITORY PEOPLE. Honestly just try to keep the rainmaker tracked. Or the tower, or the zone. But also really don';t forget to ink around. Just balanced or something.

My issue in ranked was I mained only one thing at first which was octobrush. Which relied heavily on being a support weapon with beckons and getting around behind the enemy and playing off their lack of map awareness. Which worked honestly because especially in lower ranks people aren't looking down at the gamepad to see what's happening. I did a lot of leveling with it which got me up to about A rank. However, when I got to that point I needed to adapt and learn other things but at that point I wasn't ready because I was so adjusted to my main. I wanted to learn new things... specifically squelcher but that's been a slow process. I try not to blame my team because honestly, if we fail we're failing together. TEAM EFFORT GUYS. IT'S US TOGETHER.

It depends. Sometimes different weapons aren't out for kills, instead they're using their bombs to pressure the enemy and things like that.
@svogel64598 жыл бұрын
There are of course instances where your team mates aren't doing their part at all - which is super frustrating as we all know - but what you need to focus on is still the big picture: a) You're supposed to be able to carry even the biggest loser to advance your rank (think of how if you where to play in C-Rank right now you'd probavly be able to win a 1v4, of course it's not that extreme in S+) b)bad team mates can ruin a single game but they can't ruin you're rank. You might get stuck somewhere for a couple of weeks but if you're truly playing at a higher level than everyone else in your bracket than you will rank up eventually. TL:DR Of course you can blame losing matches on your team mates/single mistakes your team mates made but always keep your attitude in mind. Better check for the things YOU could've done better instead of clinging to what someone else did wrong
@Nn-me2nn8 жыл бұрын
The Trent Rider The team in entirety is ALWAYS to blame for a loss. But everybody contributes to said loss. if you go 24-2 you probably had bad map control which let the other team take objective. or they had a huge momentum push when you got those 2 deaths
@slipperygilbert72359 жыл бұрын
I personally feel as if teammates do play a huge part in ranking up. I acknowledge the fact that I am not the best in the world, however, when your teammates do not hold their own, it makes winning matches much more challenging. A good example would be a team consisting of a charger who does not take advantage of their weapon's range and rushes the objective. Being the only charger on the team, the rest of the players are left with no way to counter the opposing chargers who do play defensively (Especially on maps like Mahi Mahi resort, where long ranges weapons are extremely good). Being a shooter main, I am not always able to pick off long rage weapons due to the obvious disadvantage I have (especially when they are able to hold higher ground and better positions due to their extra range, prime example being moray towers). Others will argue, "you could kill them yourself if you were better" however with a clear weapon disadvantage, I am not sure that statement is entirely valid.
@ultra52329 жыл бұрын
I only blamed my teammates when they actually deserve it. Like when you have high Kill / low death but your teammate have the complete opposite. When I fell out of S one time and was stuck in A+ for like a week it really could be your opponents fault. Like who uses an aerospray in ranked! The gold one too! When I got back to S my teammates could actually survive once I'm dead. Internet connection is a problem though in ranked. One time it freezes with the connection error when I have an easy shot at the running rainmaker guy so he ends up killing me and gets the knock out since no one else was there. I've also lost much rank just because of DCs. Once you get to S you can't afford a DC since it's much more difficult to win, especially when you reach the 60s.
@Victoria-ff9lv8 жыл бұрын
I know im not the best with pushing forwards, to compensate I work in establishing map control. In some cases it is your teams fault (if they do not know how to use their weapons. Ex a charger who tries to play like a blaster. It has happened.)

I'm rank S right now, and I fell from S+ a few days ago. I used to complain and blame my teammates for losing. On few occasions I'd lose while I playing really well. I realized a few things after playing a ton of solo queue. First of all, I shouldn't let poor performances fluster me, because I'll start playing recklessly. Second, I needed to keep in mind that no matter how good I am or become, I will have about the same or more losses than I have wins, and people tend to learn more after losing. Lastly, who cares if I rank down? Even if I don't rank back up, most talented players are as low as A- or late B+. As long as I don't steamroll over my opponents every single game I won't get bored. I'm playing this game because I love it.

Can you give some tipps for turf war, too? Today I just played two games as training for tomorrows Eu splatfest but lost both (and decide to give up for the day because I got agitated and that does NOT help) I do not to do better. At the Saltspray Rig the enemy even got nearly half of the map covered in ink before I reached even near the middle. I'm using the Tri-Slosher, because I like to splash around but my fingers can't keep up with the brush anymore :( Maybe I#m doing something wrong, so I'm always happy to get some tipps (I prefer inking turf instead of killing) (I just hope I dont have you as enemy in splatfest... ;) )
@1337VG9 жыл бұрын
+Alexandra Boskugel Turf War strats is not really all that different than Splat Zones. - Paint your turf. - Meet enemies with your special, use it to kill them if possible. - Conquer more turf. - Pressure them in their base making it hard to get out, while maintaining a safe distance from being flanked. Port Mackeral: Paint Spawn -> Mid. Break their defense! (This can be difficult, be careful! Use your specials wisely!) Once they're down, conquer their street! (This makes it harder for them to recover.) Lock Down! (Keep them in their spawn, watch crucial choke points, in Port it would be the two entry ways out of spawn and then the left and right drop-downs.)

This is why I'm stuck in B+, and I know it. Well, I got to A- once, but that didn't last long. I did have one losing streak when I was literally getting someone on my team lagging out almost every single match for days in a row, but that was just that one time. Generally I just suck at this tactical stuff. I try not to go rushing in blindly and feeding the enemy at least. But my aim sucks as well.

I'm currently A- and I'm honestly too afraid to start doing ranked again... I don't want to risk dropping my rank, but I'll probably pick it up again when I regain some of my confidence. For your aim, have you considered using motion controls? Trust me, I was analog all the way before I switched... And to say the least, it was HARD! It took me several hours to get used to it and several days to finally be able to take it into ranked, but it's worth it. I play with +5 sensitivity and my aim is a lot better than it was when I used analog at -5 sensitivity~ I can finally make those quick turns.... A tip when switching with to motion, I focused on using rollers first in regular mode to get a feeling of the movement, then moved to dynamo rollers for more aim practice, then the guns to test myself. It also helps to use the charger to practice motion~

+Hayley Smith It sucks, be happy you are B, the only good thing about being S is you only lose 5 points per match, granted you usually only gain 3 for wins, but if you get high enough it's easy to keep the rank. Other S rank players aren't as good as you think they'd be though and I think it's mostly due to the only losing 5 points per loss because some S ranks really don't care if they win or lose matches and you can tell by the way they play. Another big thing is playing with different weapons you can tell they are not good with, but who cares they are only losing 5 points they aren't ranking down anytime soon.

My skill level has been A range for a long time now. I’m actually in Rank S, but I’ll probably drop down to A+ shortly as I already have done that today. I used to always blame everything entirely on my teammates. It’s true, I shouldn’t expect to be carried by my team. In fact, I don’t. However, it’s when I play well and then see teammates with no kills and seven deaths that it starts to annoy me. However, it is rarely that bad. I think that it’s my own problem if my team’s combined performance doesn’t win me a game. If I can’t carry a team in the A range, then I highly doubt I deserve to be in Rank S.

What if you aren't playing horribly? One game of splat zones I had in camp triggerfish, I stayed in and controlled the enemy zone by myself for the majority of the match, and got 20 kills and 3 deaths. However, I still lost the game because my other three teammates couldn't hold the zone on our side of the map. None of them were DC'd. Is it fair to blame teammates there, or am I still doing something wrong?
@tupoiu9 жыл бұрын
It depends if your team were in a spawn camp situation. If they are, it's better to break in from behind and take your zone so you can push forwards again from there.
