4v4v4v4 and a battle royale mode. Why is Splatoon stuck in the past? Apex Legends and Fortnite run on Switch 1.

If I were to speculate the future of Splatoon with their next game, I doubt the setting will be in the past. I see the series setting still advancing forward in time as it has been doing, but time, in general, will likely be a theme that motivates story elements, enemy types (perhaps), side activities and more. While there may be some light time Shenanigans, I doubt they will give too much power to anyone in the ability to time travel because people will likely come to the conclusion of "what's stopping them from changing the course of history?". Instead, it may deal with preservation and discovery, "slumbering threats", and elements representing the future, likely built on more for the story in dlc, touching on disasters of their own making towards their ideal future, etc. If anything time related ends up a mechanic, it'll likely make sense for past and future to not break themes for either, such as time manipulation rather than time travel (think speed control, or time storage on building up a shot and firing all at once) Mechanics is something I'm less certain of, but as far as what to expect from the setting, I believe that would be more believable than doing any sort of time travel, at least not without any restrictions. If they were to revisit the idea of a great turf war, I would wager it would be in the form of a new one happening presently, but reminiscent of days past. The inklings and octolings are already on peaceful coexistence in the series, so the question would be in what struggle would cause one to occur?

With the whole chapter of the NSS ending with Splatoon 3 and how S3 ended with the three Idols I am in the belief that the outcome won't involve the base of the next game. This could had been the end of this trilogy and could start on a new one. Would suck for people who are fans of the 3 groups but that's what I feel will happen.

to me, splatoon is more of a social game like vr chat or rec room. Showing off your gear, plaza posting, and of course the festivals just screams social club and gathering. Of course the game isn't dead, but the biggest part of this social game is almost gone, so that's a bummer, and it sucks to see there wasn't any cool or meaningful additions to the social aspect of the game other than lockers. I'm not really banking of S4 getting new or improved social aspects either, but I at least want the game play to see some improvements

How's this for unfortunate RNG: Ink resistance E-liter, next to a teammate with the same loadout. That was my first match of this challenge. (I'm not bad with Chargers, but I wasn't warmed up, either.)

Keep the Splatoon party rolling. This series will never died. We got people playing Splatoon again, got people still playing Splatoon 2 and we still playing Splatoon 3.

Dude we're proud of you for admitting your drinking problem. As for whats next for Splatoon, I really feel like Splatoon deserves ongoing content, like other GAAS shooters. But I can live with no updates too, because the core game is just so strong. I'm hoping Splatoon 4 is in development and will be a launch window game in Switch 2. Summer 2025 is my best guess. Nintendo will want to get a new Splatoon game on the console, I'm guessing. And my main feature request is just 4 player split screen. It want to have my friends over and play as a squad from 1 console. Thats it. I hope that there is a new roguelike campaign game too. other than that, anything to combat smurfing would be really welcome.

Eh I dunno, spl4toon being a launch or soon after title would get me instabiy whatever the next console is. Unless backwards compatibility is strong and even enhancing it’ll be a lil awkward to keep playing 3 once the next console drops. We don’t have ~any~ idea if it even has backwards compatibility.

Honestly, disappointments about content we didn't get aside, I'm gonna continue to play Splatoon 3 because I care about the game. As with any game, I'll just stop playing when I no longer care about the game. For now, I still want to improve my skills and just enjoy the content we did get. Grinding in ranked, collecting all badges, replaying campaign modes, max EVP in salmon run, dabble in tableturf, etc. There's still so many weapons I want to get to Superfresh. Not to mention collecting the locker decorations, emotes & banners that I still haven't gotten yet. There's still so much to do.

If they base s4 on the past then I hope we get to see some ancient Japanese building or architecture, temples , shrines & so on. I missed out on s2 and my friend said s3 was supposed to have a chaotic theme to it since the final splatfest was order vs chaos. Chaos won and in s3, im not seeing anything chaotic, I was expecting to see a dystopia thing going on but that wasn’t the case. Idk if it’s cause it’s a kids game but whatever, I still enjoy what we have now. If they lean on the past theme, I hope we can see some 80s & 90s inspired clothing

Grand Fest was not a farewell party but a 2-year anniversary party!

I'm honestly just happy that I don't have to grind for the catalogs anymore. I almost lost did not complete it last season 😅 As everyone else, kinda wished there more things, but even then I feel like this is the best game in the series. Here's hoping the balance patches keep the game interesting 🤞

Splatoon 4 could have one of the following; We could see young Callie and Marie and maybe even some of the other idols We could NOT travel to the past in splatoon and instead have a meta similar to splatoon 1 We could have a story mode similar to how assassins creed did its gameplay We definitely could be seeing more hairstyle options as Nintendo DID show off those hairstyles. The timeline of splatoon will travel forward, but the scenery and maps will all have that traditional look and feel. We could have a taste of how the salmonids were BEFORE Mr grizz made grizzco And last but not least, we could have more than just lockers as that wasn’t a thing in at least USA past. Instead of regular schools. In the United States kids of ALL ages would gather in single cabin like structures and all will learn the same subjects.

Well, thanks to you, they might try to replicate the feeling of the first game, which is not entirely bad but I'd rather progress forward instead of trying to relive the past

I think Pokémon Legend ZA will be the launch title for the next console. However there are leaks that indicates that Splatoon 4 might be in developpement already. This doesn't mean it will come early but it means they are already thinking releasing a new Splatoon on the next console is an important thing - if the leaks are true

I’m actually pretty certain splatoon 4 is going to be coming soon, splatoon is Nintendos premiere multiplayer shooter, their call of duty if they will, and they don’t want a more than 5 year gap between installments. Also, I’m certain they will want it on switch 2 within a year of launch. I would predict splatoon 4 sometime around holiday 2025, or spring 2026.

Personally I had my enjoyment from Splatoon Three. I did everything I wanted to do with in it. As I have no reason to play it, plus I did not enjoy Splatoon three as much as many others have, however it is heavily better then two and I dreaded Splatoon Two. For those that enjoy the title continue inking it up :P

Mt. Nantai area probably be the Splatoon 4, since its closer to Great Turf War Battlefield and explorethat area of interests, since Deepcut conversation hinting it, but don’t know whether the map that I’ve seen is Official splatoon map. But I’m guessing Splatoon 4 will release in 2 years next year feels like too soon that it might feel rush in the next series and don’t forget the 10th Anniversary next year. EDIT: Besides, I’m not done with Splatoon 3 there still stuff
