One of the golden capship games is an old 2004 gem called Nexus The Jupiter Incident. This here is way more arcadey and simple, but I completely understand Splats craving for capship games (not enough!) so this one does looks interesting. Thanks for highlighting it, definitely looking forward to try it once it gets released

I tried to play Nexus again relative recently, but the UI had aged pretty bad. But that game was great. I believe that capital ship games should use it as the standard and grow from there.

I can't believe I missed this gem. I started playing today after your video and it's amazing. One of the things I like the most is how the event stories are woven with your crew names so you actually get to attach yourself to them. Feels really Star Trek-ish. Fantastic game.

Man, I like the concept of battlecruisers, but I've always wanted a game where you take control of absolutely absurdly large ships and it's to scale. I'll never understand why nobody has jumped on that yet, at least nobody to my knowledge.

I've been following and playing this game through early access, and it has become one of my top 20 favorites. I enjoy the battlecruiser style over a fighter style game. The story is entertaining and the ship customising and combat are fun.

I wonder, have you ever tried Avorion? The focus is on large ships, much like this game, except the ships are far more customizable and can even be built voxel by voxel. You can build a whole fleet and assign each ship missions to complete, or just have them follow you around to contribute firepower.

The terraforming minigame in Spore was the only thing I really liked about that game. Somebody needs to make that into a full game, where you work for a company that flies around flipping planets and selling them. Planet Flipper! Somebody go ahead, steal that idea. Just make sure it's fun.

While I LOVE capital ship combat this doesn't FEEL like capital ship combat to me. The amazing thing about Battlefleet gothic (especially 2) is that the ships took and dished out TONS of damage and to kill a ship took a long time. This game feels more like you are just playing really big fighters with 2 second time to kill. Point cursor at enemy and hold down button till they go boom. I want the game slowed down by at least 5x. I want to be able to target subsystems like weapons and shields, blow chunks off the enemy, Launch my own fighter wings and watch them dogfight. When I kill a ship with thousands on board I want it to FEEL like we actually went through hell and there are fires on every deck. I actually think battles in World of Warships has a pretty good feel for massive ship combat. Firing beyond sight distance, deflection shooting, proper torpedoes, system damage.

Hey Splatter, Try Avorion and built your own Battleship from scratch with its limitations because mass, energy output and much more is important to keep in mind. I build a huge Battleship that couldnt jump to next system because its was way too massive and requered huge amount of energy for it.

This is a pretty good game. I have spent about 80 hrs to play it through to completion. I picked up about half a dozen ships along the way and enjoyed fitting them up. Going over areas of the game a few time to collect more loots and better equipment's for those ships. You like Starsector heh. Then you will probably like WTF then. Wayward Terran Frontier: Zero Falls. You can tell by there tittle that the developers have a sense of humor about there game. It is somewhat similar to Starsector, but different.... Huh, I remember kickstarting this ages ago. Think I tried a barebones demo at some point and more or less forgot about it. Guess I'll go over my Kickstarter again in an year or so to see which ones are finished now. At this point I've just taken the attitude that "it comes out IF it comes out" with majority of Kickstarter stuff. I feel one can just ignore time estimates in Kickstarter and assume every PC game there takes 5-10 years to finish, if they ever finish. Board games I've had better luck with, only arriving 1-2 years late of estimation and all of them actually being finished eventually.

Happy they came back and released more updates.. For a short while i though they simply abandoned the GOG version.. cause I've seen Steam being updated but nothing there.. however they did update so versions are on par. Game wise, it was quite enjoyable.. the "role the dice" item was interesting, but mostly i turned that off

I’d love to get this game, i tried the demo and it was fun. But the heavy use of tinting hurts my eyes. From observation, it’s probably the almost complete absense of white light. Take Rebel Galaxy, for example. The areas in there are colorful and tinted. But the difference is, it’s the background and background effects that are given the tint. Not the lighting. Most of the lighting are still white lights, or a white-yellowish one. In this game, light color is whatever tint is prevalent on the area. Eye strain aside, the heavy tinting also makes it hard to appreciate a ship’s detail. It is so distracting to me.

Nice to see others play this game, it's a neat little gem that has more to it than it shows, especially in the story department. Definitely strange how many space games where you fly a spaceships are always fighters to maybe a light cruiser. I want to fly a true capital ship, let me be the big guns. This game certainly scratches that itch, even with the Ace Combat style combat where you can wipe out entire enemy fleets. Also, if you want to basically cheese every space battle, missiles and the big cannons are the way to go. Multiple slots of missiles basically shred everything and point defense is horribly underpowered against a actual missile swarm. The super heavy cannons are straight up busted and instakill anything and everything, though they're slow bullet speed means you have to be at shotgun range. I straight up killed the flagship during the fight where that shouldn't have been possible. Basically every other weapon is completely inferior compared to these things. Also, eff the arg minigame. I hate that entire process. It being the second bests ship in the game barely makes it worth it.

But if you make the right choices as you play he can also become your ride-or-die battle brother. The most loyal friend who'd sacrifice himself in a heartbeat for you. But you have to overlook several REALLY tempting chances to ruin him along the way lol

You should record in 1440p cuz 1080p is hobbled on YT nowadays. The difference in quality is unreasonably large. edit: You dont need to play in 1440p, just record it in 1440p and upload it as such. I do.
