I’m so glad you decided to continue this game. I think that the way that you provide commentary and explanations really stimulates the gameplay as well. Just a quick mention - You say look out towers are "usless" how ever they uncover line of site blocking terrain - allowing units to pre-aim at targets comming close to your walls. Some times your towers wont be able too see enemies because of LoS - Lookout towers negate that. Also in the next patch snipers will have High priority targets an the first thing they attack will be special infected - the further you can see - the easyer it is to pic them off.

J Baldwin like it has been said multiple times even if you do have multi layer defenses it doesn't help till the last day because if one layer gets destroyed you will be so far behind the curve it is impossible to win so it is better to get as many resources as possible and have an amazing first layer of defense.

@zorua Not sure, you must atleast have a inner part protected.. Because it is innevitable that 1 side falls due to the large amounts of zombies.. The problem with having a solid first layer of defence but lacking any else is that if 1 part falls you lose everything.. Everything will spiral out of control if you make a single mistake since the moment they are inside your not having anything left to stop them.. With multiple layers you can decide to give ground to continue the fight elsewhere on what might be more favorable terms.. But if he does keep to a single layer of defense he is going to need a lot more than a double wall protected by 2 or 3 executors, he is going to need multiple layers of walls and towers between those walls for that to work.. And seriously spam those executors there. And even then I am not sure if it is going to be enough.. Since all it takes is a single zombie getting inside somewhere and your entire city is screwed since your not going to be able to have soldiers everywhere to avoid that. Never have I seen a playthrough where a person succesfully managed to keep the zombies out without needing to fall back atleast once.. Just look any full playthrough on the internet.

In the final wave, your outer defenses will fall, not having layered defenses is planning to fail.

DutchGabbers that would only work if all of your resources are in the very center which is never the case you always have to expand to get new resources. So if they get any resource buildings at all it is a guarenteed lose because you get behind the curve. The resources are never all in one spot so layered defenses only protects some resources while others will still be lost if you chose layered defenses. So it's is better to have an absurd outer layer then on the last wave take out some of the resource buildings take up space to put in layered space. The build up to the end you need to gain as much income of all resources as possible. That will allow you to build more defenses at the final wave. I personally am of the opinion that you should only build walls as defenses until a big wave comes. Then because you focused research and resources so hard you can afford to build a better defense quickly on the side that the wave comes in.

Yes that Attack command is what we've been hoping you'd find and start using. Remember it's hotkey 'Q'. S select your rangers and hit Q then left click where you want them to go and they will stop along the way to clear enemies.

As someone who plays Starcraft (and isn't very good at it), you might not want to use Attack Move for large groups of Soldiers, because the first ones will stop as soon as the enemy is in range, forcing the others to move around them, spreading your forces out into a curve, which can be more vulnerable to attacks from the side. To keep the soldiers in a group, Move them close to the zombie (you'll get a feel for the distance), and Stop them once all or most are in range so they stop walking and start shooting.

I’d suggest using rangers to kite. I was able to clear a city on about day 25 with 15 soldiers and 1 ranger. Have the ranger run around in circles while the soldiers clear the area.

100 titans and a few radar towers is what you need to build. Radar towers help with finding hoards and make it so you don't waste time sending units out just to map.

Actually i'd consider the free farm that quick to be amazing depending on the start map. Ive had starts where i had tons of green fields but virtually no fishing holes - so i suffered hardcore in food until i got farms.

hey splattercat I found in my playthrough that when you sector off parts of your base and put guards for your internal defense that if zombies get into your base they can't instantly destroy your whole base. internal defense my friend.

they're working on a campaign (believe it or not, this is Early Access!), and I think you unlock new map types if you actually beat the Standard Difficulty of the current map.

The dev made a pretty big mistake by gating the game behind pay walls. We may have explored all content and strats through let’s plays before even having the chance to buy.

Just wait until you get to map 2... you'd be luck to get any chokes.

Get those short walls up. You're trying to expand in all directions when you have nothing to keep the zeds from coming in when you aren't looking. Put up short walls in the north and east. and stop double walling right now. You could have two walls that at least buy time instead of a wall that buys more time but only in once place, which means in another place there is nothing that buys time. Put up the short walls so you don't constantly have to micro your northern and northeastern rangers, put up the walls and bring most of them south and leave one or two on patron between the walls. The walls will keep a zed from passing until your rangers patrol route intercepts it. Then use the troops you've free'd up to focus expansion efforts to the south east. The bast way to make sure that open plane isn't a threat is to own it. To do that, you have to clear the zeds, which you're supposed to do anyway so start taking that land now. The more soldiers/rangers you have in the south the less likely a zed can slip by in that vast expanse between choke points. Then you push outward until you FIND a choke and then wall there. If you have to wall up in the meantime that's fine because it would have been true anyway, and now you don't also have to worry about walling off the north because you already have and you can just make those defenses tighter or use them as spring boards for northern or eastern expansion and switch the focus of the south towards maximizing defense in the form of concurrent walls with turrets. Get those short walls up.
