Speaking of old timey miners, visiting one of the older, more historical mines out there can provide you with a truly horrific time if you’re claustrophobic. Anything over 6’0 and you’ll be hunched. You go from narrow, interwoven corridors with potentially hundreds of entrances to skirting around wide, deep and pitch black unused shafts. It’s almost a vacuum it’s so dark.

To back up what you were saying about mining in the medieval period and previous, there is a reason that the Spartacus show portrayed being sent to the mines was the absolute worst fate that could befall a slave.

I've given the first game a bit of time, completely worth the money. I've also tried this one for the last few days, I can also recommend the game, biggest issue you'll have is maintaining a good food supply but you can get that solved within the first in-game day.

Grim Nights 2 looks good, like a Kingdom: New Lands without a stuck up royal noncombatant to babysit. Good! I’m a brave battle mans, not a scare-ie horsie mans, so sticking it out with your people for the fight is how I roll! 💪✊ I like the tunnels too, no longer am I trapped on the surface, having to ride around marking trees like an animal! 🤭 Now, I can dig deep to satisfy my need for the treasures of the earth! For my People! Nay, my Comrades! ✊ There is no 👑 here!

copper and bronze ages are kind of overlapping, there is a crisis at some point that basically marks the end of the elder people and starts the ancient era as we know it, kind of an earlier mediterranean viking era. but talking about tech in my opinion is wrong, it is as usual, more of a cultural change, as we do. the biblical myths for example, were made because some pretty nasty natural disasters, like probably a tunguska event on "sodom", massive volcanic activity in ancient greece and some new people from the west raiding and moving around afterwards. the more we research the more the fears of our fathers make sense, if you know what i mean. we can see the center of power shifting from middle east to the west afterwards. i hope at some point we can decipher minoan language, i bet we can learn some pretty good stuff.

Yet they are actively working on the bugs and staying in communication with people on the steam discussion area on the game. Easy to see value and potential for growth in this game.

Iron was around during the Bronze Age, but was expensive & rare and a lot of the blacksmiths didn't have the ability to heat fires hot enough to properly work it but there were still some... a lot of the iron though came from meteorites. Further in the Iron Age, Steel was made way way way earlier than previously thought possible... The earliest comes from Anatolia circa 1800 bce. or over 3800 years ago.

@SplatterCatGaming who was your geology teacher? the idea that medieval people didn’t know how to use timbers or set them properly in a mine is ridiculous. it’s utterly ridiculous, that method of securing tunnels has been used since before the medieval era. timbering wasn’t a new thing they were learning to do. medieval miners even used acid to separate ores in the high/late medieval era. you had water and horse powered drains, pumps, and drills. you had water (pneumatic) mining literally called hushing, and even fire-setting. did mines collapse? yes but not because medieval people didn’t know what to do (outside of incompetence). water would seep through making miners sick and increase the rate at which the wood would rot. you also had gas pockets. did they have the technology we do to help avoid gas pockets and... no, but that doesn’t mean they didn’t know what they where doing. (also it didn’t take an entire retinue or even another person to put plate armor on or off, was it easier? yes, was it done? yes but not because they had to, because it was easier)

I'm sitting here watching another game where people chop trees and build houses, and I'm really starting to wonder what the actual fuck is going on. We seem to be stuck in some kind of eerie loop where imagination and ingenuity has been shut down completely. So you wanna code a game, great! Now what kind of ideas do you have? People chopping down trees and building houses? Really? Nothing else you can think of? Nothing at all? I'm not even asking for novelty, just anything you can think of, anything at all. No? Hmm... How about... you play, not golf, but a game where you _are_ the golf ball? You could interact with other golf balls and sneakily affect the outcome, maybe drown in the lake. That could fun. No? Maybe not but OK: How about a game where you fly kites? There could be something here, with physics and weather and a sense of meditation? No? No, you wanna make people who chop trees and build houses. How about a game where you are a creepy clown that scare the children you were hired to entertain? A little bit of bizarre with a dash of misanthropy. That should resonate. No? Still nothing? You want people to chop... OK I get it. Hmm... I see. Why don't you relax for a while and I'll just go make a quick phone call.
